Visuaalinen perehdytysmateriaali Meilahden patologian laboratorioon : Kudosnäytteiden valu ja leikkaus

Abstract

Patologiassa tutkitaan elin-, kudos- sekä solutasolla toiminnallisia ja rakenteellisia muutoksia, jotka liittyvät erilaisiin sairauksiin. Patologia voi olla tutkimuksellista tai kliinistä työtä. Kliinisen patologian keskeisimmät tehtävät ovat sairauksien kuvaaminen ja tunnistus sekä patogeneesin (syytekijöiden) selvittäminen. Patologian laboratoriossa bioanalyytikko osallistuu muun muassa kudosnäytteiden esikäsittelyn eri vaiheisiin, joihin kuuluu näytteiden vastaanotto, kudoksen käyntiinpano, kudoskuljettimen käynnistys, valu, leikkaus sekä värjäys.

Opinnäytetyö toteutettiin yhteistyössä HUSLABin kanssa. Kehittämistehtävänä oli luoda uutta perehdytysmateriaalia Meilahden patologian laboratorion valu ja leikkauspisteisiin. Materiaalin tarve huomattiin työyhteisössä ja idea sen toteuttamiselle tuli yhteistyötaholta. Työn kohderyhmänä ja hyödynsaajina ovat uudet ja uusiin työtehtäviin perehtyvät työntekijät sekä harjoitteluun tulevat opiskelijat. Perehdytyksen tavoitteena on ylläpitää, edistää ja kehittää työntekijöiden ammattitaitoa ja varmistaa, että työ vastaa laboratorion laatukriteereitä.

Video perehdytysmateriaalina todettiin toimivaksi, sillä kudosnäytteiden valun ja leikkauksen työvaiheet ovat käsityötä. Videomateriaali tarjoaa jatkuvan mahdollisuuden perehtymiseen ja tiedon ylläpitämiseen. Materiaali on toteutettu niin, että se tukee työntekijöiden eri oppimistyylejä.

Tuotoksena muodostui kolme videota kudosnäytteiden valusta ja kolme videota niiden leikkauksesta. Videot liitettiin yhdeksi kokonaisuudeksi PowerPoint-ohjelmalla. Tuotos esiteltiin Meilahden patologian laboratoriossa ja sen jälkeen luovutettiin laboratorion henkilökunnan käyttöön.

Pathology investigates functional and structural changes in the body, tissue, and cellular levels associated with various diseases. Pathology can be research or clinical work. The most important tasks of clinical pathology are the description and identification of diseases and the identification of pathogenesis. In the pathology laboratory a Biomedical Laboratory Technician participates in various stages of the preparation of tissue specimen, including receiving specimens, grossing and tissue processing, embedding, sectioning and dyeing

The thesis was done in cooperation with HUSLAB. The development task was to create a new audiovisual orientation material for Meilahti Pathology Laboratory's embedding and sectioning workstations. The need for this material was recognized in the work community and the idea for it came from a cooperative. The target group and the beneficiaries of this work are new employees, employees with new assignment and students. The aim of this orientation material is to maintain, promote and develop the professional skills of employees and to ensure that the work meets the quality criteria of the laboratory.

Video as an orientation material is functional because the tissue embedding and sectioning operations are handcrafted. Video material offers a continuous opportunity to learn and maintain learned information. The material has been produced so that it benefits different learning styles of employees.

The material consisted of three videos of tissue embedding and three videos of sectioning. These videos were joined together into one single set by PowerPoint. The orientation mate-rial was then presented at Meilahti Pathology Laboratory and after that was handed over to the laboratory staff for further use.
