Apuvälineiden käytön perehdytys kotihoidon työntekijöille : Kokevatko kotihoidon työntekijät perehdytytyksen riittäväksi?

Abstract

Tarkoitus oli selvittää, kuinka kotihoidon työntekijät on perehdytetty asiakkaiden käytössä oleviin apuvälineisiin. Sen selvittämiseksi tehtiin kysely kotihoidon työntekijöille. Tavoitteena oli kehittää kotihoidon työntekijöiden perehdytystä apuvälineiden käyttöön.

Kysely suoritettiin Päijät-Hämeen hyvinvointikuntayhtymän (PHHYKY) alueella. Otannaksi valikoitui kolme Lahden keskustassa toimivaa kotihoidon ryhmää. Kysely toteutettiin kyselykaavakkein, mitkä kotihoidon työntekijät voivat täyttää ryhmäkokouksen yhteydessä. Kaavakkeissa oli lueteltu tavallisimpia kotihoidossa esiintyviä apuvälineitä, pääosin liikkumisen ja siirtymisen apuvälineitä. Kyselyssä tiedusteltiin mistä kotihoidon työntekijät olivat saaneet perehdytyksen, kokivatko he osaavansa opastaa asiakasta apuvälineen käytössä, olivatko he tyytyväisiä perehdytykseen ja haluaisivatko perehdytystä lisää. Lopuksi oli mahdollisuus vastata miten perehdytys toivottiin toteutettavan, mitä hyvää ja mitä kehitettävää perehdytyksessä olisi.

Vastauksia tuli 59kpl. Suurin osa (67,8 %) vastaajista oli lähihoitajan koulutuksen omaavia. Työkokemusta oli kertynyt yli 10 vuotta 44,1 %:lla. Moni oli saanut perehdytystä apuvälineiden käyttöön jo opintojen aikana, mutta usein myös perehdyttäjänä oli työkaveri tai asiakas. Sähköiset apuvälineet olivat harvinaisempia ja niihin toivottiin lisää perehdytystä. Perehdytys toivottiin pääsääntöisesti koulutuksena. Kirjalliset ohjeet ja videot tukisivat opittua.

Yleisesti perehdytys PHHYKY:n kotihoidon työntekijöiden keskuudessa koettiin riittäväksi. Lisää perehdytystä toivottiin sähköisistä apuvälineistä. Teknologian kehittyessä koulutusta tarvitaan uusien välineiden käyttöön. Kertaavat koulutukset, erityisesti siirtymisen apuvälineiden kohdalla, ovat tarpeellisia oikean ja turvallisen käytön takaamiseksi.

The goal of this study was to survey if home caregivers feel that the orientation on the assistive devices used by their clients is adequate. For this purpose, a questionnaire was made for the employees of Home aid services in a municipality of Lahti in Southern Finland. The purpose of this study is to develop the orientation and education of using assistive devices at home aid work.

The questionnaire was given to caregivers to fill up in their monthly meeting. In the questionnaire was a list of common assistive devices used in home aid, mostly mobility aids or devices for moving a person. The following questions were asked: Where did you get the orientation? Would you be able to guide a person to use the device? Were you pleased with the orientation? Is more orientation needed? At the end of the questionnaire, there were two open questions, so that the caregivers could tell if there was something good about the orientation and whether there was something to improve.

There were 59 replies from 3 out of 8 home aid teams in Lahti City. Common education background for a caregiver is a practical nurse and 67.8% of the respondents had the degree, and 44.1% had work experience over 10 years. The respondents were familiar with many of the assistive devices from previous studies. After that, a trainer was usually a fellow caregiver or client. Electric devices, such as electric wheelchairs and mobility scooters were not as familiar as other equipment. More orientation and information of electrical devices was needed. Caregivers would like to have the orientation as practical training. Written guides and videos help to remember what has been learned.

According to the results, most caregivers were quite satisfied with their orientation of using assistive devices. However, more orientation of using electrical devices was needed. Regular training for using devices, especially when moving a person, is recommended as to provide safety in care and work.
