Jaksohoitoasiakkaiden kokemuksia hoitoympäristöstä Honkaharjun Vaiho-osastolla

Abstract

Opinnäytetyö tehtiin yhteistyössä Honkaharjun Vaiho-osaston kanssa, joka kuuluu Soiteen eli Keski-Pohjanmaan sosiaali- ja terveyspalvelukuntayhtymään. Opinnäytetyön tarkoituksena oli kuvata jaksohoitoasiakkaiden kokemuksia jaksohoidon hoitoympäristöstä. Opinnäytetyön tavoitteena oli, että tuloksia voitaisiin hyödyntää jaksohoidon kehittämisessä jaksohoitoasiakkaiden näkökulmasta. Opinnäytetyössä käytettiin laadullista tutkimusmenetelmää. Aineistonkeruu toteutettiin teemahaastatteluina, joissa teemoina olivat fyysinen, sosiaalinen ja symbolinen hoitoympäristö. Keväällä 2018 kuusi Honkaharjun Vaiho-osaston jaksohoitoasiakasta osallistui opinnäytetyön teemahaastatteluihin. Aineisto analysoitiin induktiivisella sisällönanalyysillä.

Tutkimustuloksista kävi ilmi, että jaksohoitoasiakkaat olivat pääosin tyytyväisiä Vaiho-osaston jaksohoitoon, vaikka kehitysideoitakin nousi esille. Hoitajien koettiin olevan kiireisiä ja heiltä toivottiin enemmän vuorovaikutusta ja kahdenkeskistä aikaa asiakkaiden kanssa sekä yhteistä toimintaa muiden asiakkaiden kanssa. Osastolle ja omiin huoneisiin toivottiin enemmän kodinomaisuutta. Palveluja, kuten hierontaa, lääkäripalveluja ja jumppaa, toivottiin jaksohoitoon. Jaksohoitoasiakkaat kokivat saavan-sa tarvitsemansa hoivan ja avun. Asiakkaat kokivat, että heidän arvostamansa asiat otetaan osastolla pääasiassa hyvin huomioon, ja toisten arvojen kunnioittaminen koettiin tärkeäksi asiaksi.

Jatkotutkimusaiheena voisi olla hoitajien kokemuksia ja kehitysehdotuksia Vaiho-osaston toiminnasta. Opinnäytetyössämme asiakkaat painottivat hoitajien kiireisyyttä ja ajan antamisen tärkeyttä. Meidän mielestämme olisi mielenkiintoista tutkia Vaiho-osaston toimintaa myös hoitajien näkökulmasta.

The thesis was made in cooperation with Honkaharju’s Vaiho-department, which is part of Soite or Central Ostrobothnia Social and Health Services Federation of Municipalities. The purpose of the thesis was to describe respite care clients’ experiences of the respite care’s care environment. The goal of the thesis was that the results of the thesis could be utilized in developing the respite care from clients’ perspective. The qualitative research method was used in the thesis. The material was collected by theme interviews, in which the themes were physical, social and symbolic health care environment. In the spring of 2018 six of Vaiho-department's respite care clients participated in the theme interviews. The research material was analyzed with inductive material analysis.

The research results revealed that the clients of Vaiho -department were mainly pleased with the respite care in Vaiho -department, even though improvement suggestions turned up also. It was experienced that the nurses were busy and there were wishes that nurses would interact more and would have more person-to-person time with the clients as well as common time with other clients. There were wishes that the department and the rooms would be more homelike. Services such as massage, doctor’s services and physical training were wished for during the respite care. The respite care clients felt like they had gotten all the nurture and help that they had needed. The clients had experienced that the things they appreciated were noted mainly very well in the department, and the respect of other people’s values was experienced as an essential thing.

The follow-up research topic could be nurses’ experiences and suggestions of developing the opera-tions of the Vaiho-department. In our thesis the clients emphasized the hastiness of the nurses and the meaning of giving time to the clients. We think that it could be interesting to research the operations of the Vaiho-department from the nurses’ point of view.
