Varastonkiertonopeuden kehittäminen : Case Scanfil EMS Oy Sievi

Abstract

Opinnäytetyön aihe, varastonkiertonopeuden kehittäminen, koettiin aiheelliseksi tutkimuskohteeksi, koska sen merkityksestä kohdeyrityksen toiminnassa oli ollut paljon puhetta kuluneen vuoden aikana ja kohdeyrityksessä oli havaittu, että kiertonopeus ei ollut optimitasolla. Oli hyvä saada laajempi käsitys varastonkiertonopeuden syistä, mihin kaikkeen varastonkiertonopeus vaikutti ja millä toimilla jokainen hankintaosaston työntekijä voisi siihen mahdollisesti vaikuttaa. Lisäksi tavoitteena oli tunnistaa, minkä tyyppisistä ostonimikkeistä tai nimikeryhmistä oli kyse, joiden hankinnalla oli suurinta vaikutusta varastonkiertonopeuteen.

Opinnäytetyön tietoperustassa käsiteltiin varastonkiertonopeuteen vaikuttavia tekijöitä ja hankintatoimea yleisesti ja sitä, mistä kaikesta hankintatoimi muodostuu. Opinnäytetyön empiirisen osuuden tutkimusmenetelmänä käytettiin kvalitatiivista menetelmää. Empiirinen osuus muodostui kohdeyrityksen materiaaleista, keskusteluista muiden kanssa ja henkilökohtaisista tiedoista.

Merkittävä havainto opinnäytetyötä tehtäessä oli, että varastonkiertoa parantamalla voidaan saavuttaa säästöjä useilla eri hankinnan osa-alueilla. Ne eivät ole pelkästään rahallisia vaan myös muunlaisia, koska varastonkiertonopeus vaikuttaa niin monessa vaiheessa. Lisäksi yksi merkittävä havainto oli, että lopulta varastonkiertonopeuden parantamiseen vaikuttaa suuresta nimikeryhmästä huolimatta vain pieni osa, kun ne vain löydetään ja valikoidaan oikein. Heikko varastonkiertonopeus myös työllistää useilla eri osastoilla merkittävästi. Tärkeä huomio oli myös se, että varastonkiertonopeuden parantaminen ei ole kovin helppoa eikä se tapahdu nopeasti ja useimmiten se vaatii hetkellisen kiirepiikin tuotannossa, jotta selkeää nousua voi tapahtua. The subject of this thesis, development of inventory turnover, was considered to be an ap-propriate research topic because its significance for the target company had been discussed a lot during the past year and it had been found that the ITO was not at an optimum level. It was a good idea to get a better understanding of the reasons behind the ITO, the things the ITO affects and and what actions each employee in the procurement department might have. In addition, the aim was to find those purchasing or item groups that were most affected by the ITO.

The theoretical part of the thesis focused on the factors affecting inventory turnover and the procurement operations in general, and the factors all procurement operations are formed of. The qualitative method was used as the research method for the empirical part of the thesis. The empirical part was made of the materials of the target company, discussions with others and personal information.

A significant observation of the thesis was that by improving the ITO, savings can be achieved in several areas of procurement, not just monetary but also other types, as the ITO affects so many stages. In addition, one major finding was that, ultimately, the improvement in the ITO was affected by only a small part of the category of items when they were only found and selected. The weak ITO rate also employs a significant number of different de-partments. An important point was also the fact that improving the ITO is not easy and it does not happen quickly and in most cases it requires a momentary rush on production so that a clear rise can occur.
