Uusi kattilantestausstandardi ja lämmityskattiloiden testaus

Abstract

Vuonna 2012 julkaistusta SFS EN 303-5-standardista on tekeillä uusi versio, joka tulee valmistuessaan korvaamaan voimassa olevan standardin. SFS EN 303-5:2012-standardi sisältää kiinteitä polttoaineita käyttäville alle 500 kW:n teholuokkaan kuuluville lämmityskattiloille asetetut vaatimukset ja kattiloiden testauksen. Jyväskylän ammattikorkeakoulun kattilantestauslaboratorio tekee SFS EN 303-5:2012-standardin mukaista testausta kattiloille ja heitä kiinnosti saada selville, minkälaisia muutoksia uusi standardi voisi aiheuttaa laboratorion testaustoimintaan. Tehtävä oli etsiä saatavilla oleva tieto keskeneräisestä standardista. Kävi ilmi, että standardista oli valmiina jäsenmaihin lausuntokierrokselle kommentoitavaksi lähtenyt luonnos, joka oli mahdollista saada luettavaksi.

Standardiluonnoksesta löytyi useita eroja voimassa olevaan standardiin. Standardiin kuuluviin kattilatyyppeihin oli lisätty kondenssikattilat sekä palamisilman ulkoilmasta ottavat alle 100 kW:n tehoiset kattilat. Suuri osa muista muutoksista liittyi edellä mainittujen kattilatyyppien lisäyksen aiheuttamiin rakennetta, turvallisuutta ja testausta koskeviin tarpeisiin. Toinen merkittävä muutos liittyi energiatehokkuuden ja päästöjen laskentaan koskien kaikkia standardin kattilatyyppejä.

Uusi standardi huomioi kattiloiden testauksessa sen, että käytännössä kattiloita käytetään huomattava osuus käyttöajastaan myös osateholla, jolloin palaminen on epäpuhtaampaa ja päästöt suurempia kuin täydellä teholla toimiessa. Testin tuloksista lasketaan painotetut arvot päästöille ja energiatehokkuudelle, joilla saadaan lähempänä todellisuutta oleva kuva kattilan energiatehokkuudesta ja päästöistä.

A new version of the SFS EN 303-5-standard published in 2012 Is being prepared, that will supersede the current standard once finished. The SFS EN 303-5:2012-standard covers requirements and testing of heating boilers up to nominal heat output of 500 kW, that burn solid fuels to produce heat. The boiler testing laboratory at JAMK Institute of Bioeconomy tests heating boilers according to SFS EN 303-5:2012requirements and they were interested in knowing how the new standard might affect their testing activities. The task was to find out all the information available of the still unfinished standard. It turned out there was a draft of the standard that had been sent to member countries for consultation.

Several differences were found between the draft of the new standard and the standard hat’s currently valid. The new standard also applies for condensing boilers and boilers up to 100kW nominal heat output, that take air used in combustion from outside the building. Both are new additions to the currently valid standard. Many of the other changes in structural requirements, safety and testing were related to adding the two above mentioned boiler types to the scope of the standard. Another major difference was related to energy efficiency calculations and emissions for all boiler types.

The new standard takes into account the fact that in practice boilers run often at partial heat output. At partial heat output fuel does not burn as clean as it does at nominal heat output which results in higher emissions and worse energy efficiency. Test results are used to calculate weighted values for emissions and energy efficiency that better reflect reality.
