LC Rovaniemi/Ounasvaara – Visuaalisuutta webiin

Abstract

Opinnäytetyönämme oli tehdä uudet nettisivut LionsClub Rovaniemi/Ounasvaara -klubille ja heidän Porokisat tapahtumalleen korvaamaan vanhat sivut. Tavoitteemme oli luoda nykyaikaiset ja visuaalisesti vaikuttavat sivut. Käytettävyys oli myös tärkeä ja huomionarvoinen seikka sivuja laatiessa. Selkeä ja helppokäyttöinen käyttöliittymä sekä latausajan minimoiminen kuuluivat myös tavoitteisiimme.

Visuaalisuuden luominen uusille sivuille ja käyttöliittymän käytettävyyden huomioiminen olivat tasavertaisia tutkimusongelmiamme. Tekstin visuaalinen asettelu kuului olennaisena osana sisällön visualisointiin. Jotta kokonaisuus olisi toimiva ja selkeä, täytyi värien, kuvien ja rakenteen pelata yhteen. Huomioimatta näitä seikkoja nettisivujen ulkoasusta olisi saattanut tulla epämiellyttävä.

Nykypäivänä nettisivuilta osataan vaatia paljon. Enää ei riitä pelkkä tiedottaminen vaan nykyään täytyy osata tarjoilla sisältö elegantisti. Onnistuimme tavoitteissamme ja toimeksiantaja sai toivomansa parannuksen Internetin valtavirtaan.

Käyttämämme työkalu nettisivujen laatimisessa oli Macromedia Dreamweaver. Kuvankäsittelyn teimme Adobe Photoshop CS2- ja CS4-versioilla. Teimme sivut HTML-muotoon käyttäen apuna CSS-tyylejä. Julkaisimme sivut Internetiin AtomFTP- ohjelman avulla.

Opinnäytetyön toiminnallisen työn osuus suoritettiin kolmessa kuukaudessa tiiviillä aikataululla vuoden 2009 lopulla. Tekijänoikeudelliset asiat oli helppo sopia, sillä kaikki materiaali oli toimeksiantajan omaisuutta.

The primary target of this thesis was to create new Web sites for the LionsClub Rovaniemi/Ounasvaara and for their Porokisat event. The new Web sites would replace the old ones. The main aim was to achieve modern and visually impressive Web sites. The usability of the sites was among one of the most important things to take into account. A clear and user-friendly user interface along with minimized downloading time was also an important concern.

The research problem that had to be dealt with was to add to the visuality of the sites without letting usability suffer. The main matter with visualization of contents was the layout of the text. To be able to accomplish a functional combination of colours, pictures and structures that had to go well together. Ignoring these issues we would have probably resulted in Web sites with an unpleasant appearance.

The software that was used to create Web sites was Macromedia Dreamweaver. The image processing was handled with Adobe Photoshop CS2 and CS4 versions. HTML was the document format that the sites were built on, taking advantage of CSS styles. The sites were published on the Internet via an AtomFTP program.

The functional part of thesis was carried out within three months through intense scheduling in the end 2009. The copyrights were easy to settle because all of the material belonged to the client.

Nowadays people tend to demand a lot for Web sites. Instead of simply telling the facts, information needs to be served in an elegant way. The newly designed Web sites achieved the desired goal and the client received the improvements they had wished for on information highway.
