Lisäksi koottiin oppaan pohjalta PowerPoint -esitys luennon tukimateriaaliksi.
This thesis deals with menopause from the perspective of both women and men. Related literature and research papers were studied for this thesis. The target organisation for the thesis was Masku Neurological Rehabilitation Centre. The purpose of this thesis was to give a lecture on the menopause for rehabilitees of different neurological diseases, as well as to create a guide to support nursing. The goal of the thesis was to provide information about menopause and aging to the women and men involved in neurological rehabilitation.
Once the subject was selected, the process of writing the thesis continued by gathering theoretical knowledge. The gathered data was used for writing a menopause and andropause self-care guide for women and men. The guide aimed, among others, to present symptoms and self-care methods associated with menopause in a simple and clear manner. In addition, a PowerPoint presentation was compiled on the basis of the guide as support material for the lecture. After this, the lecture was scheduled with the cooperative party. The lecture for the rehabilitees was given on the agreed date with the help of the self-care guide and the PowerPoint presentation. After the lecture, the guide was distributed to the participants. In addition, digital copies of the PowerPoint presentation and the guide were delivered to the cooperative party for use as a self-care tool.
The planned content was included in the self-care guiden, and the layout was clear, easy to read and functional in size. The PowerPoint presentation was also clear and worked well as support material for the lecture. The lecture for the rehabilitees went according to expectations. The success of the lecture was also supported by the participation of the rehabilitees. Feedback received from the cooperative party and the rehabilitees regarding the importance of the subject and the clarity of the guide and PowerPoint presentation were positive. The topic of the thesis proved to be useful and important.
An in-depth study of andropause using foreign research sources could be a good target for further research. The development idea could be related to a folder on menopause and andropause for nurses. The folder could include more information on the topic and self-care methods.
