Verkkokurssin kehittäminen : tuotekehityksen perusteet

Abstract

Kehittämishankkeen tarkoituksena oli uudistaa Kainuun ammattiopiston kulttuurialalla käytettävää tuotekehityksen perusteet -verkkokurssia ja laajentaa samalla sensisältöä. Aikaisempi versio verkkokurssista oli valmistettu vuonna 2002 ja se toimii WebCT -oppimisympäristössä. Verkkokurssi koostuu verkossa olevista oppimateriaaleista, harjoituksista sekä siellä tehtävistä oppimistehtävistä sekä kurssin aikana valmistettavasta portfoliosta. Verkkokurssin käytyään opiskelija ymmärtää tuotekehitykseen liittyvät seikat ja kykenee syventämään omaa osaamis-taan tulevissa projekteissa. Kurssi oli tarkoitettu laajennuksen jälkeen soveltuvaksi vähintään kolmelle eri tutkintolinjalle. Kehittämishankkeen tavoitteena oli uudistaa verkkokurssia toimivammaksi, käyttäjäystävälli-semmäksi, laajemmaksi, yhteneväksi kokonaisuudeksi. Kurssia on käytetty usean vuoden verran. Opiskelijoiden mielipiteet vaikuttivat kurssin kehittämisessä. Työn tuloksena syntyi uudistettu versio verkkokurssista. Uudistetut teoriamateriaalit, oppimis-tehtävät ja graafinen ulkoasu vaikuttivat oleellisesti kurssin kokonaisilmeeseen. Teoriaosuudessa selvitetään työn ajankohtaisuutta, verkkopedagogiikkaa, oppimiskäsityksiä ja oppimateriaalin tuottamista. Tähän asti saatua tietoutta hyödynnetään kurssin uudistamisessa. Kehityshankkeena verkkokurssin uudistaminen oli merkittävä ennakkotapaus Kainuun ammatti-opistossa, koko työyhteisön kehittymisen kannalta.

The purpose of this development project was to revise and expand the content of a web-based "Introduction to Product Development" course which is used by the culture sector of the Kai-nuu Vocational College. The previous version of the course was designed in 2002 and it is used in a WebCT learning environment. The course consists of web-based learning materials, exercises, learning tasks, and a portfolio which is created during the course. After having completed the course, a student will have acquired the required knowledge about product de-velopment, and will be able to deepen his/her skills during future projects. After having been revised and expanded, the course is intended to beused as a part of three or more different de-gree programmes. The objective of the development project was to revise the web-based course by making it mo-re functional, more user-friendly, more comprehensive, and, in general, more coherentas a whole. The course has been used for several years. Students' feedback influenced the course development process. The outcome of the project was a revised version of the web-based course. Revised theoretical learning materials and learning tasks and a new graphic layout had a significant influence on the overall impression of the course. The theoretical part of the project discusses the topicality of the work, web-based pedagogy, concepts of learning, and production of learning materials. The existing knowledge is applied to practice during the course development process. As a development project, the development of the web-based course was a significant test case at the Kainuu Vocational College with regard to the development of the entire work com-munity.
