"Voisin kuvitella, ett tää toimii" HyvinvointiTV® lastensuojelun perhetyössä vanhempien kokemana

Abstract

Perheiden avuntarve on lisääntynyt. Vanhemmat tarvitsevat yhä enemmän apua arjessa selviytymiseen ja tukea vanhemmuuteen. Lastensuojelutyöhön tarvitaan lisää uusia työmenetelmiä, joilla kyetään vahvistamaan ja tukemaan perheiden omia voimavaroja.

HyvinvointiTV on Laurea-ammattikorkeakoulun, Espoon kaupungin ja TDC Song Oy:n yhteisen tutkimus- ja kehitystyön tulos. HyvinvointiTV lastensuojelun perhetyössä toteutettiin keväällä 2008 kolmen kuukauden pilottihankkeena. Pilottihankkeen tavoitteena oli lastensuojelupalvelujen kehittäminen hyvinvointiteknologiaa hyödyntäen.

Opinnäytetyö toteutettiin laadullisen tutkimuksen keinoin. Haastattelumenetelmänä käytettiin puolistrukturoitua teemahaastattelua. Tutkimusaineisto kerättiin haastattelemalla kolmea HyvinvointiTV:n pilottihankkeeseen osallistunutta äitiä. Haastattelut toteutettiin kesäkuussa 2008. Aineisto analysoitiin teoriaohjaavasti.

Opinnäytetyössä selvitettiin perheiden kokemuksia osallistumisestaan HyvinvointiTV:hen sekä heidän näkemyksiään laitteiden käytöstä ja toimivuudesta. Sen lisäksi selvitettiin, minkälaista tukea tai apua perheet kokivat saaneensa ohjelmista vanhemmuuteen ja arjessa selviytymiseen. Ohjelmien sisällöt jakaantuivat eri teemoihin. Teemat jakaantuivat vanhemmuuden tukemiseen, arjen hallintaan, varhaiseen vuorovaikutukseen ja perheiden henkilökohtaiseen tukeen.

Tulosten perusteella voidaan sanoa, että HyvinvointiTV sopii lastensuojelun työmenetelmäksi. Ensiarvoisen tärkeää on kuitenkin perheiden motivoiminen osallistumaan ohjelmiin. Toinen seikka, joka nousi selkeästi esille oli oikeaaikaisuus. Ohjelman sisällön tulee vastata perheiden sen hetkistä avun tarvetta. Haastateltavat kokivat ohjelman sisällön enimmäkseen hyväksi, tosin vertaistukea jäätiin kaipaamaan. Ohjelmaa tuli tarpeeksi ja se oli monipuolista. Osa perheistä koki saaneensa tukea ja apua arjen hallintaan ja vanhemmuuteensa. HyvinvointiTV:n laitteet olivat helppokäyttöisiä. Tekniikka aiheutti ongelmia kaikilla perheillä, ja sen toivottiinkin toimivan jatkossa paremmin.

The need for help has increased in many families. Many parents need more and more support in their everyday life including parenting. Child welfare requires new methods of working that can support families to utilize and strengthen their own resources.

CaringTV® is a joint research and development project between the following parties: City of Espoo, Laurea University of Applied Sciences and TDC Song Oy. CaringTV® was implemented in spring 2008 as a pilot that lasted for three months. The goal of this pilot was to develop child welfare services by using new welfare technology.

Qualitative research methods were utilised in this thesis. For the interviews, semi-structured thematic interview was chosen. The material for this study was collected by interviewing three mothers that were involved in the CaringTV® pilot. The interviews took place in June 2008. The material was then analyzed by using theory-driven method of analysis.

This thesis also investigated the experiences of the families who participated in the Ca-ringTV® project and how they experienced technical equipment, its functionality and ease of use. The thesis also aimed at investigating what kind of help or support families felt they received from the programmes regarding parenting and coping in every-day life. The themes were categorised to supporting parenthood, coping in everyday life, early interaction and personal support of the families.

The findings indicate that CaringTV® can be successfully utilised within the field of child wel-fare. It is however vital that that families are motivated to participate in the making of the programs. Correct timing was also demonstrated to be crucial for the success. The content of the programs needs to correspond to the families’ need of help at the particular moment. The interviewees found the contents of the programs mainly satisfying, but they would have liked to receive more peer support. Some families felt that the programs provided help and support in their everyday lives and also in their parenting. Technical equipment provided was found to be easy to use. However, the new technology caused some problems and the fami-lies hoped that these problems could be eliminated in the future
