Tutkimus Niittymaan palvelukodin ympäristönhallinta-apuvälineiden toimivuudesta

Abstract

Opinnäytetyön tavoitteena oli selvittää Espoon Tapiolassa sijaitsevan Niittymaan palvelukodin ympäristönhallinta-apuvälineiden käyttöä ja huolto-ongelmia, sekä kehittää näihin ongelmiin ratkaisumalleja. Tutkimusaineisto on kerätty keväällä ja kesällä 2008 ja työ on viimeistelty keväällä 2009. Tutkimusaihe löytyi Uudenmaan CP-yhdistyksen kautta.

Tutkimuksen muotona käytettiin toimintatutkimusmetodia ja tutkimus oli haastatteluluontoista. Tutkimuksen tarkoituksena oli saada mahdollisimman kattavasti selville ympäristönhallinta apuvälineiden suurimmat käyttö- ja huolto-ongelmat. Työssä tuodaan ilmi myös havaittujen ongelmien ympärille kehitettyjen ratkaisumallien esittäminen mahdollisimman kattavasti.

Työ koostuu viitekehyksestä, joka sisältää teoria osuuden ja sen jälkeen tulevasta käytännön osuudesta. Viitekehys tukee käytännön osuuden päätelmiä ja ratkaisumalleja. Viitekehys selventää tutkimusmetodia ja tutkimuksessa esille tulleita tekniikoita ja apuvälineiden käyttöä selventäviä termejä. Käytännön osuus koostuu tutkimuksesta, tulosten arvioinnista sekä ratkaisumallien esittämisestä.

Aineiston pohjalta selvisi palvelukodin ympäristönhallinta apuvälineiden toiminnan tarpeellisuus palvelukodin asukkaille, sekä se mitä ongelmia apuvälineiden käytössä on havaittu niin asukkaiden kuin henkilökunnan taholta. Tämän myötä tutkimusselvityksen mukaan apuvälineiden käyttäjien pitää olla selvillä niiden toimivuudesta sekä päivittää omia tietojaan tasaisesti. Apuvälinepalveluja tarjoavan yrityksen kanssa yhteistyön tulee olla toimivaa sekä tavoitteiden tulee olla samat.

Työn tuloksena esitetään, että palvelukodin asukkaiden sekä henkilökunnan tavoitteiden tulee olla samat kehitettäessä yhteystyötä osapuolten välillä. Heidän tulee pyrkiä yhteiseen päämäärään sekä yhtäläisiin toimintamenetelmiin. Tutkimuksessa huomattiin puutteita kommunikaation ja informaation kulussa. Ongelmia huomattiin sekä asukkaiden ja henkilökunnan välillä että henkilökunnan ja palveluntarjoajan välillä.

Tutkimuksessa selvisi monia ongelmakohtia ympäristönhallinta-apuvälineiden käytössä. Ongelmiin on esitetty monia eri ratkaisumalleja ja näitä hyödyntämällä palvelukoti pystyy helpottamaan asiakkaiden apuvälineiden käyttöä sekä ympäristönhallinta-apuvälineiden huoltotoimenpiteitä.

Analysis of service home Niittymaa environmental support devices functionality

The objective of the thesis study was to find out use and maintenance problems of environmental management support devices in the Niittymaa sheltered home located in Tapiola, Espoo, and to find solutions to the fore mentioned problems. The research material was gathered during spring and summer 2008 and the study was finalized in spring 2009. The subject of the study was found through the Uusimaa CP Organization. An action research method was used and the study was interview-based. The purpose of the study was to find out the most significant use and maintenance problems of environmental management support devices and to present the solution models developed around the problems as comprehensively as possible. The study consists of a framework followed by a practical part. The framework supports the conclusions and solution models offered in the practical part. The framework also clarifies the research method, the techniques found in the study and terms clarifying the use of support devices. The practical part consists of the study, the evaluation of results and the presentation of solution models. The necessity of environmental management support devices to the residents of the sheltered home and the problems in their use on both the staff and resident sides was observed on the basis of the research material. It was found out in the research that the users of support devices must be informed about their functionality and they must update their knowledge on a regular basis. Cooperation with the company providing the support device services must be functional and the objectives of the sheltered home and the company must be the same. The conclusion of the study is that the objectives of the sheltered home residents and the sheltered home staff must be the same when developing cooperation between the parties. They must work for the common goal and to achieve similar action methods. Insufficient communication and flow of information was found out in the study. Problems were identified between residents and the staff and between the staff and the service provider. The study found out many problem points in the use of environmental management support devices. Several solution models have been proposed for solving the problems, and by using these models a sheltered home is able to ease its clients’ use of support devices and the maintenance procedures of environmental management support devices.
