Opetusvideot HemoCue® Hb ja Glucose 201+ -vieritestilaitteiden käytöstä

Abstract

Vieritutkimukset ovat tutkimuksia, joita voidaan suorittaa laboratorion ulkopuolella potilaan vieressä ja muun kuin laboratoriohenkilökunnan toimesta. Tästä syystä vieritutkimuksien määrä lisääntyy terveydenhuollossa. Yleisimpiä hoitoyksiköissä käytettäviä vieritutkimuksia ovat glukoosin ja hemoglobiinin määritykset kapillaariverestä.

Opinnäytetyön tarkoituksena oli parantaa hoitohenkilökunnan suorittamien vieritutkimuksien laatua tuottamalla opetusvideot kahden HemoCue® -vieritestilaitteen käytöstä Pihlajalinna Koskiklinikalle. Toimeksiantajan toivomuksesta videot kohdennettiin hoitohenkilökunnalle, koska he suorittavat vieritutkimuksia eniten ja yleensä kaukana laboratoriosta. Työ oli toiminnallinen opinnäytetyö, jossa tuotettiin kirjallinen raportti ja kaksi videotuotosta.

Videoissa käsiteltiin valittujen laitteiden ominaisuuksia, mittausperiaatteita, ihopistonäytteenottoa, näytteiden tutkimista ja laitteiden ylläpitoon liittyviä toimenpiteitä. Lisäksi kirjallisessa raportissa käsiteltiin vieritutkimuksia yleisesti, niiden suorittamiseen liittyviä preanalyyttisiä tekijöitä, virhelähteitä ja valittujen HemoCue® -laitteiden analyyttejä. Työssä käsiteltiin myös hoitohenkilökuntaa vieritutkimusten suorittajina ja lisäksi perehdyttiin hyvän opetusvideon periaatteisiin.

Eri terveydenhuollon yksiköissä voi olla käytössä useita erilaisia vieritutkimuslaitteita, joista voisi jatkossa tehdä lisää opetusvideoita. Lisäksi jo tehtyjen opetusvideoiden onnistumista ja käyttöä voisi tutkia, jotta voitaisiin kunnolla arvioida opetusvideoiden vaikuttavuutta ja vaikutusta työntekijöiden perehdytykseen.

Point-of-care (POC) testing is a rapid medical diagnostic test performed at a patient’s bedside, outside the laboratory setting. It is often performed by healthcare professionals without biomedical laboratory science education. The most used point-of-care meters in healthcare units are used to analyse blood glucose and haemoglobin.

The purpose of this practice-based thesis was to create two educational videos on the use of HemoCue® Hb and Glucose 201+ point-of-care devices, as requested by the private hospital Pihlajalinna Koskiklinikka. These devices are the most used by the healthcare staff in the client’s units. Hence it was necessary for the client to have good educational material for these devices, in order to educate the healthcare professionals on the use and maintenance of the POC devices. Creating educational videos is a good method for the purpose intended as they show the use and maintenance of the equipment in a demo setting.

The educational videos covered several features of the devices, like for example the method of finger-prick sampling, the principles and the procedures of the analyses, proper handling of the equipment, its maintenance and quality control. The written report discusses the role of point-of-care testing in healthcare and the importance of preanalytical factors in the quality of POCT testing. In addition, the written report discusses the role of healthcare professionals when performing POCT test outside the biomedical laboratories.
