Lottien tehtävät kaatuneiden huollossa talvi- ja jatkosodassa

Abstract

Tämä opinnäytetyö on toteutettu yhteistyössä Laurea - ammattikorkeakoulun ja Helsingin Seudun Sotaveteraanipiirin kanssa. Työn tarkoituksena on kuvata kaatuneiden huoltoa talvi- ja jatkosodan aikana vuosina 1939-1944 kaatuneiden evakuoimiskeskuksissa. Työ painottuu lottien tehtäviin kaatuneiden huollossa, ja äänensä saa myös kuuluviin yksi pikkulottana työskennellyt henkilö, joka oli vastaanottamassa ruumisarkkuja sodan aikana. Lisäksi työssä käsitellään sankarivainajien asemaa Suomen yhteiskunnassa ja pohditaan kuolemaa yleisesti ja uskonnon roolia siinä.

Opinnäytetyön luonne on toiminnallinen ja se on tehty laadullisena tutkimuksena. Työhön haastateltiin pikkulottana työskennellyttä henkilöä ja tällä osuudella on työssä tärkeä rooli teoreettisen viitekehyksen rinnalla. Haastattelussa sekä teoriaosuudessa korostui isänmaan tärkeys ja sen itsenäisyyden vaaliminen, yhteishenki, lottatyön arvostus sekä kiitollisuus pikkulottana toimimisen kokemuksista. Henkilöhaastattelun lisäksi työhön on lainattu lyhyesti toisista lähteistä muiden lottien kokemuksia kaatuneiden huollossa työskentelystä.

Tällä opinnäytetyöllä halutaan levittää tietoa kaatuneiden evakuoimiskeskusten toiminnasta ja erityisesti korostaa naisten merkitystä tällä osa-alueella. Sotien aikana kaatui noin 95 000 suomalaista sotilasta. Suomi oli ainoa maa, joka evakuoi kaatuneensa omalle kotiseudulle. Kaatuneiden evakuoimiskeskuksilla on ollut iso merkitys siinä, että suurin osa näistä sotilaista on päässyt omaan kotimaahansa, Suomeen haudattavaksi. Tällä on ollut suuri vaikutus sotajoukkojen taisteluhenkeen sekä omalta osaltaan myös kotirintaman jaksamiseen.

This thesis was made in co-operation with Laurea University of Applied Sciences and Helsinki Region War Veterans (Helsingin Seudun Sotaveteraanipiiri). The purpose of this thesis was to describe how the people who were killed in action were taken care of in the Winter War and the Continuation War during the years 1939-1944. The focus in this work was on Lotta work and one little Lotta tells her story about her role in war, when she was receiving the coffins. This thesis also discussed the position of the diseased war heroes in the society of Finland. Death and religion were also discussed in this thesis.

The thesis was functional and executed as a qualitative research. This thesis included one interview which played a big role beside the theoretical framework. In this interview were highlighted the importance of one’s own home country and maintaining the independence. Also solidarity, the valuation of Lotta Svärd Organization and the gratitude of the experiences were important for the person interviewed. In addition to this interview some Lottas’ experiences in the evacuation centres of the killed in action were shortly quoted from other sources.

This thesis aimed to spread information about the work in the evacuation centres of the killed in action and especially emphasize the women’s work. In the Winter War and the Continuation War was killed about 95 000 Finnish soldiers. Finland was the only country which evacuated the dead soldiers away from the battlefields. Owing to evacuation centres most of the soldiers have a grave in their own homeland, Finland. This was meaningful both for the soldiers’ fighting spirit and for the homefront.
