Projektiliiketoiminta ja siinä havaitut ongelmakohdat

Abstract

Tämä opinnäytetyö käsittelee yksityiskohtaisesti projektiliiketoimintaprosessia ja siinä havaittuja ongelmakohtia case-yrityksessä. Opinnäytetyön tarkoituksena oli selvittää case-yrityksen projektiliiketoiminnassa havaittujen ongelmien vaikutusta projektien läpiviemiseen. Samalla pyrittiin löytämään ratkaisuja projektitoiminnan tehostamiseen.

Case-yrityksessä on moniprojektitoimintaa, jonka vuoksi ratkaisujen löytäminen on erittäin haasteellista, koska jokainen projekti on ainutlaatuinen, ja sen vuoksi ei ole helppoa löytää yksittäistä syytä projektin läpimenossa esiintyviin ongelmiin. Lisäksi projektihenkilöstö ei aina pysy samana, jolloin projektin sisäisen yhteistyön merkitys kasvaa.

Tutkimusmenetelmä on kvalitatiivinen, deskriptiivinen case-tutkimus ja aihetta tarkastellaan case-yrityksen henkilöstön näkökulmasta. Teoriaosuudessa käsitellään projektiliiketoimintaa, projektia ja sen sidosryhmiä, projektinhallintaa, projektitoiminnan ongelmakohtia, laatukustannuksien aiheuttajia sekä projekteista oppimista. Lähdeaineistoa teoriaosuuteen on kerätty kirjallisuudesta sekä internetistä. Empiirisen osan case-aineisto on saatu yrityksessä ulkopuolisella teetetyn tutkimuksen tuloksia hyödyntäen sekä omien havaintojen perusteella yrityksen projektitoiminnassa.

Tutkimuksessa havaittiin case-yrityksen projektitoiminnassa monenlaisia ongelmakohtia, jotka vaikuttavat merkittävästi projektin lopputulokseen. Tässä tutkimuksessa on pyritty löytämään yleisimmät ongelmakohdat ja niihin parannusehdotuksia. Tämän tutkimuksen perusteella todettiin, että ongelmakohtia voitaisiin minimoida parantamalla kokonaisuuden hallintaa, organisointia, riskienhallintaa sekä ennakointia projektitoiminnassa.

This thesis deals in detail with business project processes and its problems in the case company Yritys Oy. The purpose of the study was to find out the effect the problems had on the lead-through of the case company’s business project proc-esses. At the same time the study aspires to find solutions to improve effectivity in project processes.

The case company has multi-project processes and finding solutions is quite chal-lenging as each project is unique. For this reason it is not easy to find one single reason for the occurrence of project lead-through problems. At the same time, per-sonnel for the different projects are not the same people. Thus, the significance of co-operation inside the teams increases dramatically.

The research method chosen for the study is a qualitative, descriptive case study. The topic of the study is examined from the case company’s personnel perspective. The theoretical section discusses business project processes, projects and their in-terest groups, project management, problems in project operations, reasons behind quality costs, and learning through projects. The sources used for the theoretical part of the study include thematically related publications and the Internet. The empirical section of the study utilized the results of an interview study which was carried out by an outside consultant as well as personal observations of the case company’s project operations.

The research results show that the case company’s project operations have a vari-ety of problems which have major impact on the end results of the projects. The goal of the study was to find the most common problems in the projects and to give improvement propositions for them. Based on the study results the case com-pany’s project process problems could be minimized by improving management of the project processes in its entirety, its organization, risk management and prepar-ing in advance for the project operations.
