Tunnesatu-projekti : Osana TULUS – Tunnetaitoja ja luonnontuoksuja -hanketta

Abstract

Projektimuotoisen opinnäytetyön tilaajana toimi Toholammin kunnan varhaiskasvatus. Opinnäytetyö toteutettiin yhteistyössä Kanervat-ulkoryhmän kanssa, joka käynnistettiin syksyllä 2019 Opetushallituksen rahoittaman TULUS – Tunnetaitoja ja luonnontuoksuja -hankkeen puitteissa. Opinnäytetyön tavoitteena oli edistää Kanervat-ulkoryhmän ryhmäytymisprosessia sadutuksen keinoin. Opinnäytetyön päätehtäviä olivat hankekokous, huoltajien infotilaisuus, kaksi sosiometrista mittausta, kuusi sadutus-interventiota, e-materiaalin kokoaminen lasten saduista sekä taide-interventio. Opinnäytetyön toiminnalliset osuudet toteutettiin syksyn 2019 aikana.

Hankekokouksen tavoitteena oli laajentaa ammatillista tietämystäni varhaiskasvatuksen kehittämistyöstä sekä päästä osaksi moniammatillista tiimiä. Sen avulla huolehdittiin organisaation järjestämän varhaiskasvatuksen laadusta, edistettiin varhaiskasvatuksen toimintakulttuurin muutosta sekä lisättiin luonnon osuutta oppimisympäristönä. Huoltajien infotilaisuuden tavoitteena oli lisätä varhaiskasvatushenkilöstön ja huoltajien välistä yhteistyötä ja sen myötä sitoutua edistämään lasten kasvua, kehitystä ja oppimista. Sosiometristen mittausten tavoitteena oli kerätä luotettavaa tietoa lasten vuorovaikutussuhteiden kehityksestä sekä edistää vertaissuhteiden tietoista tukemista, joka on varhaiskasvatuksen tärkeimpiä tehtäviä.

Sadutus-interventioiden tavoitteena oli kehittää lasten tunnetaitoja ja kielellisiä valmiuksia sekä lisätä lapsiryhmän osallisuutta ja yhteenkuuluvuutta. Tunnetaitojen kehittäminen edistää lasten ystävyyssuhteiden muodostumista ja mielenterveyttä. E-materiaalin tavoitteena oli tukea lasten osallisuutta ja toimijuutta ryhmässä sekä opastaa lapsia tieto- ja viestintäteknologian käytössä. E-materiaalin kokoamiseen kuuluneen taide-intervention tavoitteena oli kehittää lasten tunnetaitoja sekä lisätä lasten osallisuutta ja toimijuutta taiteen kautta.

Opinnäytetyön tavoitteeseen pääsyä mitattiin sosiometristen mittausten avulla. Saatujen tulosten mukaan lapsiryhmän vertaissuhteiden määrä ja laatu eivät nousseet, mikä oli hypoteesina. Tuloksiin vaikuttivat olennaisesti ryhmään kuuluvien lasten poissaolot toisena mittauspäivänä. Kyseiset mittaustulokset eivät näin ollen kerro koko totuutta Kanervat-ulkoryhmän ryhmäytymisprosessin edistymisestä. Havainnoilla ja ryhmäläisten omalla kokemusmaailmalla on myös suuri merkitys.

The commissioner for this project-based thesis was early childhood education in the municipality of Toholampi. The thesis was carried out in cooperation with a group of outdoor kindergartens named Kanervat, which were launched in fall 2019 by a project named TULUS –Emotional skills and scents of nature. The project was financed by the Finnish National Agency for Education. The objective of the thesis was to advance the process of grouping in Kanervat’s group of outdoor kindergartens with the story crafting method. The main tasks of the thesis were a project meeting, info for guardians, two sociometric measurements, six story crafting interventions, collecting e-material from children’s stories and art intervention. The functional parts of the thesis were carried out during the autumn 2019.

The objective of the project meeting was to enlarge my professional knowledge about development work in early childhood education and become part of a multi-professional team. The project meeting ensured the quality of early childhood education organised, promoting the change in the operating culture of early childhood education and increased the share of nature as a learning environment. The objective of the info for guardians was to increase cooperation between early childhood education staff and guardians and thus promote the growth, development and learning of children. The objective of the sosiometric measuring was to collect reliable information about the development of children’s interaction relationships and to promote conscious support for peer relations, which is one of the most important tasks of early childhood education.

The objective of the storycrafting interventions was to develop children’s emotional and linguistic skills and increase the participation and togetherness of the children’s group. The development of emotional skills contributes to the formation of friendships among children and mental health. The objective of the e-material was to support children’s participation and agency in a group and guide children in the use of information and communication technologies. The objective of the art intervention, which was a part of collecting the e-material, was to develop the emotional skills of children and increase children’s participation and agency through art.

Achieving the goal of the thesis was measured by sociometric measuring. According to the results the number and quality of peers in a group of children did not increase, which was the hypothesis. The results were substantially influenced by absences of children in the group on the second day of measuring. These measured results do not tell the whole truth about the progress of the grouping process of Kanervat’s group of outdoor kindergartens. Observations and the personal experiences of the group members have also a big importance.
