Tiivistelmä
Vuonna 2017 voimaan tullut Kirjastolaki määrittelee kirjaston tehtävät uudelleen. Vantaan Korsossa sijaitsevan Lumon kirjaston 2. kerroksen tiloja muovattiin kirjastolakia mukaillen tilaksi oppimiseen, harrastamiseen, työskentelyyn ja kansalaistoimintaan sekä edistämään myös yhteiskunnallista ja kulttuurista vuoropuhelua. Tilan tarkempi uudistus määriteltiin palvelumuotoilun keinoja käyttäen yhteistyössä korsolaisten henkilöiden ja yhdistysten kanssa. Kirjaston 2. kerroksen uudistus sai hankerahoitusta 20.000 €, jolla katettiin muun muassa sisustussuunnittelijan työ sekä laitehankintoja.
Samassa yhteydessä uusittiin myös koko kirjaston kalusto. Lumon kirjaston suurimmat asiakasryhmät ovat lapset ja lapsiperheet, joten uudistusta lähdettiin muovaamaan palvelumuotoilun keinoin näiden ryhmien kanssa. Lapsille suunnattu kysely oli avoinna maaliskuun 2018 aikana ja se keräsi yhteensä 140 vastausta. Alle kouluikäisten lasten vanhemmille suunnattu kysely oli avoinna verkossa maaliskuun 2018 puolivälistä huhtikuun 2018 loppuun ja se keräsi yhteensä 87 vastausta.
2. kerroksen yhteisöllisen tilan uudistusta muovattiin työpajassa toukokuussa 2018, jonka tulosten myötä kirjastotilan yhteydessä olevasta pimiötilasta päätettiin muovata Makerspace-tyyppinen pajatila erilaiseen harrastustoimintaan. Asiakkaiden ja henkilökunnan ehdotusten myötä äänestykseen nostettiin kolme erityyppistä pajaa, joista asiakkaat saivat äänestää mieluisinta marraskuun 2018 ajan. Näiden kolmen lisäksi asiakkaat saivat myös antaa omia ehdotuksia. Ääniä annettiin yhteensä 473, joiden perusteella tila päätettiin jakaa kolmeen osaan kädentaitopajaksi, digitaidepajaksi sekä koko perheen robotiikkapajaksi. Pajatoimintaa suunniteltiin huhtikuussa 2019 yhdessä asiakkaiden ja yhteistyökumppaneiden kanssa ja se käynnistyi syksyllä 2019.
Kirjasto oli suljettuna muutostöiden vuoksi 3.12.2018-6.3.2019. Tämän jälkeen kartoitettiin asiakkaiden mielipiteitä uudistustöistä verkkokyselyllä, johon vastasi 100 henkilöä 31.3.2019 mennessä. Asiakkaat olivat pääasiassa tyytyväisiä etenkin lastenosaston uudistuksiin, mutta vastauksissa nousi esiin myös parannusehdotuksia esimerkiksi laitteiston suhteen. The Library law that came into effect in 2017 defines the new tasks set to libraries. Lumo library’s, which is located in Korso, Vantaa, 2nd floor space was reformed after the Library law to offer spaces for learning, hobbies, working and civil activities as well as advance social and cultural dialogue. The more detailed reform was defined in collaboration with the people and organizations in Korso area. The 2nd floor reforming got 20.000€ project funding which was used for paying the interior designer and purchasing devices.
During the reforming the whole library got refurnished. The biggest customer groups in Lumo library are children and families with children, so the reforming was done using the means of service design with these groups. The questionnaire for children was open March 2018 and it got 140 answers. The questionnaire for parents with children under school age was open from mid-March to the end of April and it got 87 answers.
The communal space on the 2nd floor was defined in a workshop in May 2018, after which the space was decided to made into a Makerspace type working space for different hobbies. After getting suggestions from customers and the staff three different spaces were picked for voting in November 2018. In addition people could vote their own suggestions. In total 473 votes were given and the space was decided to divide in three different workshops: handicraft, digital art and robotics for the whole family.
The workshops were further planned in April 2019 in collaboration with the people and organizations in Korso area. The workshops started in fall 2019.
The library was closed due to renovating 3.12.2018-6.3.2019. After that the patrons were asked how successful the reforming was with an online questionnaire, which got 100 answers during March 2019. The patrons were especially happy with the new children’s department, but improvement suggestions were also given about devices.
