Teoriaosioiden lomassa on erilaisia monivalintakysymyksiä, joihin vastaamalla opiskelija pääsee etenemään oppitunnilla.
Oppimateriaalin avulla on myös mahdollista perehtyä aihealueeseen esimerkiksi ennen kliinisen mikrobiologian harjoittelua. Kehittämistyön raporttiosioon tutustumalla opiskelijat voivat halutessaan perehtyä aiheeseen syvemmin. Oppitunnin yhteytedessä on myös lisämateriaalia, jonka avulla opiskelijat voivat itsenäisesti etsiä lisätietoja aihealueeseen liittyen. Fungi and molds are found everywhere in our environment. They are not harmful to a healthy person, but when the resistance weakens, they can cause serious infections. Bioanalytes play an important role in the treatment of fungal infections, as fungal sampling and identification of the causative agent are key to choosing the right treatment.
In this thesis, learning material was developed for biomedical laboratory science students on clinically significant yeasts, dermatophytes and molds using the Moodle lesson activity. The client organization of the thesis was Savonia University of Applied Sciences. The aim of the thesis was to support and develop the learning and professional skills of biomedical laboratory science students.
The thesis was implemented as a functional development work. Functional development work refers to a project based on research data, which is often a work-based assignment. The thesis was carried out by compiling study material based on reliable research and theoretical information. The thesis deals with the identification of the most common clinically significant species and sampling.
The thesis consists of a written report and an output. The output of the thesis is the self-study material com-piled in Moodle, i.e. the lesson. The lesson consists of several different theoretical sections that follow the report section of the thesis. In between the theoretical sections, there are various multiple-choice questions, by answering which the student can progress in the lesson.
With the help of the study material, it is also possible to get acquainted with the topic area, for example, before practicing clinical microbiology. By getting acquainted with the report section of the thesis, students can get to know the topic in more depth. There is also additional material in the context of the lesson that allows students to independently search for more information related to the topic area.
