Monessa asiassa tuli esille tekoälyn kasvava merkitys. Manually assembled components are inspected in production with the human eye which can lead to uncertainty and inaccuracy. If a defective printed circuit board module goes further in the production, it can cause additional costs and unnecessary work. The aim of the present study is to search and examine an inexpensive and duplicable automatic optical inspection system for manually assembled components. The initial presumption was that a smart camera would be the best device for this kind of inspection but after testing it turned out to be suitable for quite a limited use only.
In this study, ambient lights excluding photo shooting environment that included a functional illumination for the examined object were designed and built. Both 2D and 3D cameras were tested and investigated. A 2D camera optics combined to intelligent and versatile computer-controlled software turned out to be the best optical inspection system for this case. With this system it is possible to check almost every desired component. To get even more reliable inspection results, it would be reasonable to take optical inspection into account already in the drawing phase of the printed circuit board layout. The same inspection system could be utilized also elsewhere in production.
The other target of the study is to develop an idea for software that could collect information about the short circuits of solder joints or missing solder joints. The outcome was a touch screen - controlled system that collects data to a database. The information can be presented in a visually illustrative form afterwards.
The increasing significance of artificial intelligence came out in many contexts. It is part of optical inspection software already and it will definitely generate additional new features and possibilities in the future. In addition to this, combining data from different systems could create synergy that could enable noticing problems at an early stage.
