Minun oma aarre - Yksillöllisen korun tarina

Abstract

Lähtökohtana oli tutkia, voiko sarjavalmisteisesta korusta saada yksilöllisyyttä korostavan tuotteen. Opinnäytetyön keskeisenä aiheena oli selvittää käsityön merkityksen muuttumista ja tutkia yksilöllisyyttä ja sen liittämistä osaksi korua. Käsityön merkityksen muuttumista lähestyttiin perehtyen käsityötieteeseen ja tekemällä kysely, jolla selvitettiin käsityöharrastajien motiiveja sekä millaisia ihmisiä käsityökursseilla käy ja mistä syystä. Opinnäytetyössä avattiin muokattavan korun käsitettä ja pohdittiin erilaisten muokkauskeinojen käyttöä. Suunnitteluprosessi pyrki vastaamaan kuluttajan tarpeisiin yksilöllisestä korusta, joka olisi muunneltavissa myös toiminnallisuuden avulla.

The starting point in this thesis was to examine whether a serial produced piece of jewelry can be converted into a jewel that emphasizes individuality. The main theme in the thesis was to investigate the evolution the meaning of traditional handicraft has gone through and to examine individuality as a part of a jewel. The evolution of the traditional handicraft was approached by familiarizing the studies made of handicraft and by composing a survey, which aimed to discover the motifs on people having an interest on handicrafts. In addition, the survey was applied to find out the types of people attending classes and their reasons to do so. The thesis unveils the concept of a ductile piece of jewelry and reflects different ways of modifying jewels. The designing process aimed to answer the consumer’s needs for an individual piece of jewelry, which could also be modified through functionality.
