Suupohjan kuntien lapsiperheiden palvelut : Kyselytutkimus 3-8 - vuotiaiden lasten vanhemmille

Abstract

Opinnäytetyöni tavoitteena oli tutkia Suupohjan alueen kuntien (Kauhajoki, Teuva, Isojoki ja Karijoki) 3-8-vuotiaiden lasten perheille suunnattuja perhepalveluja. Tutkimuksella halusin selvittää lapsiperheiden vanhempien perhepalveluiden tarpeita, kokemuksia ja tiedonsaantia perhepalveluista sekä heidän vaikutusmahdollisuuksiaan perhepalveluihin. Tutkimuksen tilaaja oli Selevä Paletti- hanke Kauhajoelta ja tutkimuksen tarkoituksena oli kerätä tietoa vanhemmilta perhepalveluiden kehittämistä varten Suupohjan kunnissa. Tutkimustuloksia käytetään apuna lapsiperheiden palvelukokonaisuuden kehittämisessä, mukaan lukien varhaiskasvatus, sosiaali- ja terveyspalvelut, perusopetus sekä järjestöjen ja seurakuntien palvelut. Teoriaosuudessa tarkastelen perhepalveluiden rahoittamista, käsitteiden perhe ja vanhemmuus sisältöä, perhepalveluita yleisesti ja seutukunnallisesti sekä perhepalveluihin liittyviä hankkeita ja tutkimuksia Suomessa. Tutkimusmenetelmänä käytin määrällistä tutkimusta. Tutkimuskysely toteutettiin Suupohjan alueen kunnissa marraskuussa 2010 lomakekyselynä Suupohjan kuntien 3-8-vuotiaiden lasten vanhemmille käyttäen ositettua otantaa. Kyselyitä jaettiin kuntiin suhteutettuna kuntien 3-8-vuotiaiden lasten lukumäärään. Tutkimustulokset analysoin SSPS- tilasto-ohjelmalla ja esitin tulokset graafisessa muodossa pylväsdiagrammeina niiden helpomman luettavuuden vuoksi. Tutkimuksen päätuloksena voi todeta, että vanhemmat ovat pääosin tyytyväisiä Suupohjan alueen perhepalveluihin, mutta kehittämistarpeita riittää vielä monella palvelusektorilla. Kuntien suurimmat haasteet ovat saada lapsiperheille enemmän lasten- ja kodinhoitoapua, vanhemmille vertaistukea sekä tukea vanhemmuuteen ja kasvatukseen. Vaikutusmahdollisuuksien suhteen vanhempien mielestä on vielä parannettavaa varsinkin koulupalveluissa, päivähoito/varhaiskasvatuspalveluissa ja lapsiperheiden kotipalvelussa. Tutkimustulokset olivat hyvin samansuuntaisia aiempien aiheesta tehtyjen tutkimuksien kanssa.

The goal of my research was to investigate the family services of the Suupohja municipalities (Kauhajoki, Teuva, Isojoki and Karijoki), which are aimed at families who have children aged between 3 and 8. In my research I wanted to find out what kind of needs for support parents have concerning family services, what kind of experiences they have with family services, how they get information about family services and what possibilities there are, in their opinion, to influence family services. The research was ordered by the so called Selevä Paletti - project in Kauhajoki and the purpose of the research was to gather information from parents in order to develop family services in the municipalities of Suupohja. The theoretical part of the research examines the financing of family services, the meaning of the concepts family, parenthood and family services in general and regionally. In addition, some public projects are considered regarding family services improvement in municipalities around Finland. The results of my research are compared with those of some previous researches on the same subject in Finland in order to find out if there are many similar or different results. The research method used was quantitative research. The research survey was conducted in the municipalities of Suupohja in November, 2010, by using a questionnaire, which was sent to parents, who had children aged between 3 and 8. The research group was gathered by using stratified sampling. The questionnaire was distributed to municipalities in proportion to families, which had children aged between 3 and 8. The results were analyzed with SSPS statistical program and put in the form of bar graphs for easier readability. The research results show that parents of children aged between 3 and 8 are mostly satisfied with the family services in the municipalities of Suupohja, but there are still needs for development in many family service sectors. The biggest challenges for municipalities are to arrange more house-help for parents with small and young children, peer support and support concerning parenthood and children education. Parents also wanted better possibilities to be able to influence on family services. The results of the research are very similar to the results of previous researches.
