”Hienoo, että tämmönen on keksitty!” : Tukiperhetoiminnan merkityksiä perheiden voimaantumiselle Ylä-Savon SOTEn alueella

Tutkimme opinnäytetyössämme tukiperhetoiminnan merkityksiä perheiden voimaantumiselle. Opinnäytetyömme tarkoituksena oli saada selville biologisten vanhempien kokemuksia tukiperhe-toiminnasta ja millaista merkitystä sillä on ollut heidän elämäänsä. Opinnäytetyömme tavoitteena oli selvittää, onko tukiperhetoiminta auttanut perheitä voimaantumaan ja ovatko lapsiperheen voimavarat ja hyvinvointi lisääntyneet perheessä tukiperhetoiminnalla.

Toimeksiantajanamme toimi Ylä-Savon SOTE kuntayhtymä. Ylä-Savon SOTE on neljän kunnan liitto (Kiuruvesi, Vieremä, Sonkajärvi ja Iisalmi), joka järjestää terveyden- ja sairaanhoidon sekä sosiaalihuollon palveluita jäsenkuntiensa asukkaille. Toimeksiantajamme halusi saada tietoa tukiperhetyön merkittävyydestä ja siitä, kuinka toimintaa voisi kehittää tällä alueella. Kohderyhmänämme olivat perheet, jotka ovat tukiperhetoiminnan asiakkaita Ylä-Savon SOTEn alueella.

Opinnäytetyömme on kvalitatiivinen eli laadullinen tutkimus. Tutkimusaineisto kerättiin teemahaastatteluilla. Teemahaastatteluihin osallistui viisi perhettä, joilla oli lastensuojelun avohuollon tukitoimena tukiperhe. Tutkimusaineisto analysoitiin aineistolähtöisellä analyysillä. Opinnäytetyön pohjana toimi teoreettinen viitekehys, jossa perehdyimme voimaantumisteoriaan. Tämä auttoi meitä perehtymään syvemmin siihen, millaisia merkityksiä tukiperhetoiminnalla oli ollut lapsiperheiden voimaantumiselle.

Tutkimuksen tuloksista selvisi, että vanhempien kokemukset toiminnasta olivat positiivisia ja vanhemmat olivat saaneet apua lasten hoitoon ja arki oli helpottunut. Tutkimuksen tuloksista tuli esille, että vanhemmat kokivat lisääntyneen vapaa-ajan oman jaksamisensa kannalta tärkeäksi. Tukiperhetoiminta kerrottiin olevan riittävä ja oikeanlainen tukimuoto, josta on ollut konkreettista hyötyä koko perheelle. Tukiperhe tukimuotona oli voimaannuttanut sekä lasta että vanhempaa.

Abstract

The meaning of support family activities on empowerment of families was studied in this thesis. The purpose of the thesis was to find out about the opinions of the biological parents whose children visit support families, what the parents think about support family activities and how they affect their lives. The aim of the study was to determine if support family activities were helping the empowerment of the families and if resources and well-being of families with children had increased.

The client organization was Upper Savo Joint Municipal Authority of Social Services and Health which is a federation of four municipalities (Kiuruvesi, Vieremä, Sonkajärvi and Iisalmi). Upper Savo Joint Municipal Authority of Social Services and Health organizes health care and social services to residents of its member municipalities. The target group was families who are customers of the support family activities in the area of Upper Savo Joint Municipal Authority of Social Services and Health.

This study was a qualitative research. The data were collected in theme interviews. The theme interviews were conducted with five families who have a support family supporting their needs as clients of child protection. The data were analyzed by inductive analysis. The study was based on a theoretical framework dealt with the theory of empowerment. This helped to study in more detail the meanings of family support activities on the empowerment of families with children.

The study results showed that the parents' experiences of the activity were positive and they had received help in child care and everyday life was easier. The study results also showed that the parents felt that the increased leisure time was important for their own well-being. Support family activity was said to be adequate and the right kind of support, which had had tangible benefits for the whole family. A support family as a form of support had empowered both children and parents.
