Miten sormitietokonetta hyödynnetään työskentelyssä?

Abstract

Tämän opinnäytetyön tarkoituksena on tutkia, miten Suomen Pankin työntekijät hyödyntävät sormitietokonetta työnteossa. Työssä myös pohditaan, mitä mahdollisuuksia tai esteitä taulutietokoneen käytöllä olisi Suomen Pankissa. Tällä hetkellä eletään tietoteknisesti muutosten aikaa, johon myös isojen organisaatioiden on herättävä. Ihmiset haluavat pian valita työvälineensä itse ja taulutietokoneiden rantautuminen työntekijöiden laukkuihin on yksi merkki tulevasta murroksesta.

Opinnäytetyössä pohditaan mitä haasteita iPad tuo pankin kaltaisen organisaation IT-yksikölle, jonka olisi pysyttävä kehityksen edellä tietoturvan ja ohjeistuksen puolesta. Tutkimuksessa keskitytään Applen iPad-tabletteihin, koska suurinosa Pankin tableteista on niitä

Opinnäytetyössä toteutettiin kaksi kyselytutkimusta: toinen iPadia vakituisesti käyttäville ja sekä toinen Pankin kirjastosta niitä lainaaville. Näitä tuloksia ja ajankohtaisia artikkeleita vertaamalla saatiin aikaiseksi hyvä käsitys siitä, mihin ja missä ihmiset oikeasti tablettia käyttävät.

Kysely lähetettiin yhteensä 61 henkilölle, joista vastasi 28 (85%) iPadin jatkuvaa käyttäjää ja 16 (57%) lainaajaa. Kyselyssä tehtyjen tulosten perusteella voidaan todeta, että laitetta käytettään pääasiassa lukemiseen ja nettisurffailuun, eikä sisällön tuotantoon, joka on ymmärrettävää kosketusnäytön hankaluuden vuoksi. Käyttäjät itse kokevat iPadin tukevan työskentelyä, mutta siitä ei ole kannettavan tietokoneen todelliseksi korvaajaksi.

The purpose of this thesis is to examine how the Bank of Finland employees utilized the tablet computer in their work environment and what difficulties they may have to face. The IT environment is developing rapidly and it means the organizations should also be prepared for upcoming changes. In no time end users wish to choose the device that they want use and the tablets are the first sign of the future.

This study discusses the challenges the iPad brings to the Bank of Finland IT department, which should stay ahead in the development of the security guidance. The study focused solely on Apple’s iPad tablets. In the organization the end-users utilized exclusively iPads. Two surveys were conducted on the iPad users, one for the frequent users and another for the occasional users. The articles were supported by the survey results which gave a clarifying explanation of how people use their tablets.

The survey was sent to a total of 61 persons, of whom 28 (85%) frequent users and 16(57%) occasional user completed the survey. The results imply that the tablet was mainly used for reading and browsing. Content producing with the tablet is limited due to the lack of user friendly word processing for touchscreen devices. Altogether, the users experience that the iPad supports their working but it is not the right device to replace the conventional laptop computer.
