GHG REDUCTION FROM SHIPPING : a literature review

Abstract

The shipping industry is undoubtedly the ecofriendliest method of transportation of goods, which has been proved by various research before this. Still, having been accounted for about 2.2 % of global CO2 emission, there is enough room for improvement, given that there are only a few regulations in place to change its emission practices. We are on the verge of climate change, and it demands immediate actions from every sector, including the shipping industry. This research seeks to find factors that lead to a broad acceptance of measures for reduction or what factors could play an essential role in rapidly achieving the target of zero emissions.
