Nukketeatteri forum-teatterin työkaluna

Abstract

Tämä opinnäytetyö käsittelee uutta soveltavan teatterin konseptia, forum-nukketeatteria. Forum-nukketeatterissa yhdistellään elementtejä Augusto Boalin forum-teatterista ja soveltavasta nukketeatterista.

Forum-nukketeatteri on Riku Laakkosen luoma, uusi forum-teatterin malli, ja sitä avataan esittelemällä Sopimusvuori Oy:n Askel-kurssin nuorten mielenterveyskuntoutujien Karhu maassa Karhumaassa (2010) forum-nukketeatteriesitys. Avaamisen kautta nähdään, miten forum-nukketeatteriesitys vaihe vaiheelta rakentuu.

Työssä avataan klassisen forum-esityksen rakennetta. Bertolt Brechtin ja Augusto Boalin ajattelua esittelemällä työ kytkeytyy laajemmin poliittisen ja soveltavan teatterin traditioihin.

Työssä pyritään tuomaan esille soveltavan nukketeatterin historiaa ja nykypäivää sekä soveltavan nukketeatterin monia käyttötapoja. Tieto soveltavasta nukketeatterista on Suomessa toistaiseksi kovin vähäistä. Yksi työn tavoitteista onkin edellä mainitun tiedon lisääminen.

Teatteri-ilmaisun ohjaajan toimenkuva on laaja. Työssään teatteri-ilmaisun ohjaaja kohtaa monia haasteita. Nukketeatterillisen ajattelun tunteminen rikastaa teatteri-ilmaisun ohjaajan työtä ja tarjoaa välineitä uusien sovellusten kartoittamiseen. Soveltavan nukketeatterin keinot laajentavat soveltavan teatterin toimintamahdollisuuksia. Tämän opinnäytetyön yhtenä tavoitteena on tarjota uusia työkaluja teatteri-ilmaisun ohjaajan ajattelun ja työn tueksi.

Toiveena on, että tämä opinnäytetyö lisää soveltavan nukketeatterin tuntemusta ja kiinnostus soveltavaa nukketeatteria kohtaan kasvaa. Samoin toiveena on, että opinnäytetyön nukketeatterilliset harjoitteet leviäisivät laajempaan käyttöön.

The present Bachelor's Thesis investigates a new concept in applied theatre called forum puppetry. Forum puppetry combines elements from Augusto Boal's forum theatre and applied puppetry. Forum puppetry is a new forum theatre model, created by Riku Laakkonen. It is opened by introducing a performance called The Bear in the Ground in the Bearground was performed by young mental rehabilitators. Through this opening it can be seen how a forum puppetry performance is made.

The present thesis opens a classical forum theatre performance's structure. The thesis introduces thoughts from Bertolt Brecht and Augusto Boal and thus brings the thesis more closely to the traditions of political and applied theatre. The history and present day applied puppetry is widely discussed in this thesis. Knowledge about applied puppetry in Finland is mild so far. One of the tasks in this thesis is to increase this knowledge.

Drama instructor's job description is versatile. In his or her work the drama instructor faces many challenges. When knowing puppetry and puppet theatre's philosophy that enriches the drama instructor's work and offer tools to invent new adaptations. Applied puppetry resources are fostering ways how applied theatre can work. One goal in this thesis is to offer new possibilities to drama instructor's work.

This thesis aims at increasing knowledge concerning applied puppetry and an interest towards applied puppetry escalates. Moreover, hopefully exercises which are presented in this thesis could spread among drama instructors.
