Säännölliseen verenluovutukseen liittyviä motivaatiotekijöitä

Abstract

Tämän opinnäytetyön tavoitteena oli selvittää säännöllisten verenluovuttajien luovutusmotivaatioon vaikuttavia tekijöitä ja näin auttaa Suomen Punaisen Ristin, Veripalvelua kehittämään verenluovutustapahtumaa. Opinnäytetyössä tarkastellaan Veripalvelutoimistojen asiakkaita ja se on toteutettu yhteistyössä Suomen Punaisen Ristin, Veripalvelun kanssa. Verenluovuttajista on aikaisemmin tehty vähän suomalaisia tutkimuksia.

Veripalvelu teki verkkokyselylomakkeen, valitsi kyselyn osallistujajoukon ja suoritti aineiston keruun. Opinnäytetyön tekijänä sain aineiston raakadatana Excel-taulukkoon sijoitettuna. Opinnäytetyön aineisto saatiin tekemällä verkkokysely 21.3–27.3.2011 käyneille verenluovuttajille. Kysely lähetettiin 2510 verenluovuttajalle joista 914 ilmoitti käyneensä luovuttamassa verta Veripalvelun toimistossa. 803 koki olevansa säännöllinen verenluovuttaja. Opinnäytetyöni tutkimusmenetelmä on kvantitatiivinen. Vastaukset on ryhmitelty sukupuolen ja ikäryhmän mukaan.

Vastausten perusteella verenluovuttajat ovat varsin yhtenäinen ryhmä kun tarkastellaan heidän motivaatiotekijöitään luovuttaa verta säännöllisesti. Sukupuolten välillä ei ollut havaittavissa suuria eroja. Ikäryhmiä tarkastellessa oli nähtävissä hajontaa nuorempien ja vanhempien ikäryhmien välillä. Nuoremmat verenluovuttajat olivat vanhempia enemmän kriittisempiä verenluovutustapahtuman suhteen ja he olivat enemmän hakeneet tai saaneet tietoa verenluovutuksesta tiedotusvälineiden kautta. Säännölliseen verenluovutukseen verenluovuttajia motivoi ennen kaikkea auttamisen ilo ja halu tehdä hyvää.

Jatkotutkimusaiheiksi nousi tutkia ammatin vaikutuksia verenluovutusmotivaatioon. Ovatko sosiaali- ja terveysalalla työskentelevät aktiivisempia verenluovuttajia kuin muihin ammattiryhmiin kuuluvat? Myös eri ikäryhmien tarkemmasta vertailusta verenluovutusmotivaatiotekijöiden kanssa Veripalvelu saisi hyödyllistä tietoa joka auttaisi kehittämään verenluovutustapahtumaa.

The purpose of this Bachelor’s thesis was to find out what the motivation to donate blood is and to help the Finnish Red Cross, Blood Service to develop the blood donation event. In this thesis I examined regular clients of Blood Service’s local offices in co-operation with the Finnish Red Cross, Blood Service. Currently there is scant information about the Finnish blood donators.

Blood Service carried out a web-based survey and chose the target respondents and also collect the material. I got the raw data from the Blood Service on Excel-based format, which I evaluated and analyzed in this thesis. The web survey was carried out on 21 March-27 March 2011. The survey was sent to 2510 people and out of them 914 informed that they have donated blood in the Blood Service’s local office. 803 of the respondents felt that they were regular donators. In this thesis I used quantative research methods and the answers are grouped according to gender and age group.

Based on the answers blood donators are quite a homogenous group when I analyzed the motivation to donate blood regularly. Between the different sexes there are no major differences. There was dispersion in different age groups between the young and the old. The studying was more critical towards blood donation and they found information for media better than the older blood donors. Most of the respondents felt that the motivation to donate blood is the willingness to help other people.

As the ideas for further research I propose to study the motivation to donate blood and profession. Whether those who work in social and health care are more active in donating blood than those who belong to other professions? Also a more accurate comparison between age groups and the motivation to donate blood would give useful information to Blood Service in order to develop the blood donor event.
