Aivojen sähköhoito : Ohjausvideo aivojen sähköhoidosta Oulun yliopistollisessa sairaalassa

Abstract

Sähköhoito eli elektrokonvulsiivinen hoito (ECT) on eräiden psykiatristen häiriöiden hoitomenetelmä. Sähköhoito on tehokas hoitomuoto lääkkeiden ja psykoterapian rinnalla. Sähköhoidon tärkeimmän käyttöalueen muodostavat erilaiset masennustilat, maniat, parkinsonismi, skitsofrenia ja muut psykoosisairaudet. Suomessa aivojen sähköhoitoa annetaan sairaaloiden erikoisyksiköissä.

Opinnäytetyön tuotteena valmistettiin noin kahdeksan minuutin video sähköhoidosta. Tarkoituksena oli kuvata ohjausvideon välityksellä potilaan sähköhoitopäivän kulku Oulun Psykiatrisen tulosyksikön ECT-yksikössä. Tavoitteena oli välittää sähköhoitoon tuleville potilaille ja heidän omaisilleen ajankohtaista tietoa aivojen sähköhoidosta.

Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) is a method of treatment of certain psychiatric disorders. Electroconvulsive therapy is an effective treatment alongside the medical care and the psychotherapy. The main applications of ECT are various forms of depression, mania, Parkinson's disease, schizophrenia and other psychoses. In Finland electroconvulsive therapy is administered in specials units of University hospitals.

The thesis includes an eight minute video. The purpose was to describe the patient’s treatment day in the ECT unit in the University Hospital of Oulu Finland via the counseling video. The aim was to convey current information about the electroconvulsive therapy to patients and their families.
