Alle 3-vuotiaiden lasten kotitapaturmien ennaltaehkäisy

Abstract

Suomessa lapsille sattuu vuosittain arviolta 100 000 lääkärikäyntiä vaativaa tapaturmaa, joista noin 10 % vaatii sairaalahoitoa. Tapaturmatilastojen ja teoriatiedon mukaan alle 3-vuotiaiden lasten yleisimpiä kotitapaturman aiheuttajia lapsesta ja hänen kehitystasostaan riippuen ovat putoamiset ja kaatumiset, tukehtumiset ja myrkytykset, hukkumiset ja palotapaturmat sekä sähköiskut. Kotitapaturmia voidaan parhaiten ehkäistä riittävällä valvonnalla ja turvallisen kasvuympäristön luomisella.

Tämän toiminnallisen opinnäytetyön tarkoituksena oli tuottaa valokuvadiasarja Hyvinkään kaupungin verkkopalvelu Nettineuvola Nelliin koskien alle 3-vuotiaiden lasten kotitapaturmien ennaltaehkäisyä. Opinnäytetyön aihe saatiin Hakalan asuinalueen neuvolasta. Opinnäytetyön viitekehyksessä käsitellään neuvolatoimintaa ja nettineuvolaa, perheen ja vanhemmuuden merkitystä, lapsen fyysisistä ja neurologista kehitystä, tyypillisiä kotitapaturmia ja niiden preventiomalleja sekä audiovisuaalisen materiaalin työstämistä. Valokuvadiasarjan käsikirjoitus ja sisältö perustuvat viitekehyksessä olevaan tietoon.

Valokuvadiasarjan tavoitteena on havahduttaa pienten lasten vanhemmat sekä terveydenhuoltoalalla työskentelevät huomaamaan tapaturmien ennaltaehkäisyn merkitys lapsen turvallisuuden ja normaalin kehityksen takaamiseksi ja antaa konkreettisia esimerkkejä tapaturmien syytekijöistä kotona. Tavoitteenamme on lisäksi, että materiaalia voitaisiin käyttää yhtenä ohjausmenetelmänä neuvolassa.

Preventing accidents of under 3-year-old children at home

Annually an estimated 100.000 doctor consultancy needing accidents happen to children, an amount out of which approximately 10 % require a stay in hospital in Finland. The accidents at home depend heavily on the level of development of the child, but according to theoretical knowledge and statistics on the issue, the major causes of accidents happened to children under three years of age are falling, suffocation, poisoning, drowning, burns and electric shocks. The potential accidents can best be prevented by sufficient supervising and by creating a safe environment for a child.

The purpose of this functional thesis was to create a slideshow of photographs to demonstrate the possible means to prevent accidents conventional to under three-year-old children. The theme was given by the maternity clinic of the neighborhood Hakala and the photos can be found on the web server online maternity clinic Nelli. The theoretical framework of the thesis consists of the institution of both traditional maternity clinics and the online service, the importance of family and parenthood, the physical and neurological development of a child, typical accidents happening at home, the potential means to prevent them as well as working on the audiovisual assignment being examined. Both the script and the content of the slideshow are based on examination of theorical background material.

The objective of the slideshow is to make healthcare professionals and, more importantly, the parents with small children realize the importance of prevention of accidents in order to ensure the safety of the child and provide a solid basis for normative development. Tangible examples play an important part in communicating the message. In addition, the material could be used as guidance material in maternity clinics.
