KUINKA SÄVELLÄN - OMA SÄVELLYSPROSESSI TARKKAILUN KOHTEENA

Abstract

Tässä opinnäytetyössä tarkastellaan luovaa sävellysprosessia omien kokemusten sekä tutkimusten kautta. Työssä oli tavoitteena syventää omaa suhdetta säveltämiseen ja innoittaa muita luovaan ajatteluun. Tähän tavoitteeseen päästiin omia kokemuksia reflektoimalla, lukemalla muiden säveltäjien kokemuksista, tutkimalla luovuuteen liittyvää lähdekirjallisuutta ja haastattelemalla yhtä säveltäjää.

Työn taiteelliseen osuuteen kuului kaksi sävellystä, jotka sävellettiin tätä opinnäytetyötä ajatellen. Sävellykset äänitettiin, ja ne ovat kuunneltavissa internetosoitteessa: https://soundcloud.com/vilipaa. Sävellystyökaluna käytettiin Logic Pro 9-tietokoneohjelmaa ja sen tarjoamaa mahdollisuutta äänittää sekä MIDI-informaatiota ja ääniraitoja.

Sävellysten eri työvaiheet käytiin läpi sävellyspäiväkirjan avulla. Tällä pyrittiin havainnollistamaan säveltäessä muodostuvia ajatusketjuja. Raportissa käsiteltiin lyhyesti myös äänitys-, miksaus- ja masterointiprosesseja, jotka ovat välttämättömiä työvaiheita sävellyksen saattamisessa äänitiedostoksi.

In this thesis I explored creative composing process through my own experiences and through research. The goal was to deepen my relationship to composing and to inspire others to creative thinking. This goal was achieved by selfexperience, reading writings of other composers, exploring literature related to creativity and interviewing one composer.

The artistic part of the thesis was to compose two compositions and they were composed for the purpose of this thesis. These compositions were recorded and they can be listened to in the internetadress: https://soundcloud.com/vilipaa. Logic Pro 9 computer program with its possibility to record MIDI and audio information was used as the composing tool.

The different stages of the composing process were looked through with a composing diary and the purpose of this was to observe the forming chains of thoughts while composing. Recording, mixing, and mastering processes are also dealt shortly in this thesis. They are a part of the process of making the compositions into listenable sound files.
