Nops 2010-2012, Nuoren työ- ja toimintakyvyn edistäminen ammattiopistoissa. Selvitys Keuda Järvenpään puualan opiskelijoiden tapaturmista ja niiden ehkäisemisestä

Abstract

Tämä opinnäytetyö on osa NOPS 2010-2012, Nuoren työ- ja toimintakyvyn edistäminen ammattiopistoissa –hanketta. NOPS 2010-2012 –hankkeen tarkoituksena on luoda nuoren työ- ja toimintakykyä edistävä toimintamalli, jossa ammattikorkeakoulun opiskelijat kytketään osaksi ammattiopistojen terveyttä edistävää työtä. Hankkeen tavoitteena on edistää nuoren terveellisiä elämäntapoja ja tietoisuutta terveyttä edistävästä työympäristöstä sekä vahvistaa turvallista ja terveellistä työn tekemistä.

Tämän opinnäytetyön tarkoituksena oli selvittää Keuda Järvenpään puualan toisen vuoden opiskelijoille sattuneita työtapaturmia sekä selvittää mitkä ovat työtapaturmien syytekijät ja miten niitä voidaan ennaltaehkäistä. Teoreettisen perustan opinnäytetyössä muodostaa (IMB) Tieto, taito ja motivaatio –terveyden edistämisen malli sekä Andessonin ja Menckelin tapaturmateoria. Opiskelijan tieto, taito ja motivaatio vaikuttavat vahvasti tapaturmien syntyyn ja niiden ehkäisyyn.

Opinnäytetyö toteutettiin kvalitatiivisella tutkimusmenetelmällä. Tutkimusaineisto kerättiin puolistrukturoidulla teemahaastattelulla. Haastatteluun osallistui 17 puualan opiskelijaa, joista kaikki oli miehiä. Kaikki haastattelut nauhoitettiin. Aineisto analysoitiin deduktiivisella sisällönanalyysin menetelmällä.

Tulosten mukaan opiskelijoille sattuu harvoin tapaturmia koulussa ja työssäoppimisjaksoilla. Sattuneet tapaturmat ovat olleet lieviä, kuten sormien haavoja ja haavaumia. Tapaturmien syytekijöiksi tulosten perusteella nousivat opiskelijasta itsestään johtuvat tekijät, kuten häseltäminen, taitamattomuus, huolimattomuus ja tottumattomuus. Tapaturmien ehkäisystä opiskelijat olivat hyvin tietoisia. Tulosten perusteella opiskelijoilla on valmiuksia toimia turvallisesti tulevassa työssään.

Sairaanhoitajien koulutusohjelman kehittämishaasteena voidaan pitää tapaturmien ennaltaehkäisevän toiminnan opetuksen lisääminen. Ammattiopiston kehittämishaasteena voidaan pitää puualan opiskelijoiden ensiaputaitojen kehittäminen ja ylläpitäminen.

NOPS 2010-2012, Ability and functional capability among young people in vocational colleges : a report of Keuda Järvenpää woodworking students of accidents and their prevention

This bachelor’s thesis is a part of the NOPS 2010-2012 project of work ability and functional capability among young people in vocational colleges. The purpose of the project is to create an operations model which promotes young people’s ability to work and function and in which the students of a university of applied sciences become part of the work which promotes the health of students in vocational colleges. The objective of the project is to promote the healthy ways of life among young people and consciousness of the working environment which promotes health and confirms safe and healthy working.

The purpose of the thesis was to study the accidents at work among the second year students of woodworking of Keuda Järvenpää and find out the factors behind the accidents and how they could be prevented. Information – Behavior – Skills- model (IMB) and Andersson’s and Menckel’s accident theory formed the theoretical basis of this thesis. The student's knowledge, skills and motivation strongly influenced the emergence of accidents and their prevention.

The method used was qualitative research method. The material was collected by semi-structured theme interviews. The interviews of 17 male students in woodworking class were recorded and the data was analyzed by using deductive content analysis.

The results showed that there were very few accidents among the students in school and during the work-based learning periods. The accidents were mild, such as fingers wounds and ulcers. They were self-inflicted and due to factors, such as ineptitude, inexperience and negligence. The students were aware of prevention of accidents and they had the ability to operate safely in their future work.

There are still challenges. Prevention of accidents has to be included in the curriculum of the nursing students. There is also need to develop and maintain first aid skills among the students of the Vocational institute.
