Investoinnin kannattavuus

Abstract

Tämä opinnäytetyö käsittelee yrityksen investoinnin kannattavuutta caseyrityksessä. Caseyrityksenä on yksityinen elintarvikekioski. Työn tavoitteena on tukea yrittäjää tekemään investointipäätös. Opinnäytetyö toteutetaan pääsääntöisesti kvantitatiivisena tutkimuksena. Tutkimustyyppeinä ovat survey- ja ennustava tutkimus.

Teoriaosa sisältää investointien keskeisen termistön. Siinä käsitellään investointeihin vaikuttavia tekijöitä sekä investointien luokittelua. Investoinnin kannattavuutta käsitellessä selvitetään eri menetelmiä apuna käyttäen investoinnin taloudellisuutta sekä verrataan menetelmiä keskenään. Lisäksi teoriaosassa käsitellään suojautumista investointien sisältäviltä riskeiltä.

Empiirisessä osiossa puretaan caseyrityksessä tehty asiakaskysely. Kyselyiden lisäksi tutkimusmateriaalina käytetään yrityksen tilinpäätöstietoja vuosilta 2006 - 2008. Tutkimuksen tavoitteena on selvittää, onko yrityksen järkevää investoida uuteen kioskirakennukseen taloudellisesti tarkasteltuna, ja ottaa samalla käyttöön uusi liiketoiminnan osa-alue. Opinnäytetyön lopussa tehdään yhteenveto ja arvioidaan opinnäytetyötä.

Asiakkaiden vastausten perusteella pystytään toteamaan, että uusi konsepti kannattaa perustaa. Pääongelman ratkaisunavaimet rakennetaan asiakkaiden vastauksista. Kyselyiden tulosten avulla kyetään ennustamaan investointien jälkeisiä nettotuottoja. Jotta pystytään selvittämään investointien kannattavuutta, täytyy käyttää teoreettisia investointilaskelmia. Kannattavuuden varmistamiseksi valitaan useampi eri menetelmä, joilla on mahdollisuus saada myös keskenään eriäviä tuloksia.

Lopputuloksena pystytään toteamaan, että caseyrityksen on järkevää suorittaa investointi, kun tarkastellaan investointipäätöstä pelkkien numeraalisten tulosten pohjalta. Yrityksen kannalta investointipäätös on keino parantaa liiketoimintaa.

This research deals with investment profitability from a financial point of view. The object of the study is a private kiosk. The research is mainly quantitative. Methods employed are survey study and predictable study.

In the theoretical part, relevant terminology is discussed. Factors that affect investment profitability are also examined. In addition, a classification of investments is presented. In regard to profitability, different methods for calculating investment profitability are examined. Investment methods are also discussed. In addition, the theoretical part examines the protection from the risks arising from the investment.

In the empirical part, a customer survey is conducted and analysed. The company's financial statements from 2006 to 2008 are also used as research material. The aim of the research is to find out, if, from a numerical point of view, it is financially profitable to invest on a new kiosk building and expand to a new business area. In the end of the thesis, the results are summarized and the thesis is evaluated.

The results of the survey confirm that the new concept can be launched. The main research problem is solved with the help of the data gained from the customer survey. With the results, postinvestment net proceeds can be predicted. Taking into consideration the result, it is possible to calculate the investment profitability by using theoretical investment calculations. To obtain a reliable result, a variety of methods have been selected. This is to ensure that also differing results can be produced through the calculations.

In regard to the numerical results, it can be stated that the investment is profitable for the company. From the company's perspective, investment is an opportunity to improve their business.
