Sisällönhallintajärjestelmä verkkotuotantoprojektina Osuuskunta IT-parkille

Abstract

Opinnäytetyö on toiminnallinen opinnäytetyö ja sen toimeksiantajana toimii Osuuskunta IT-parkki. Toimeksiantajalla oli tarve uudistaa WWW-sivunsa ulkoasun ja tekniikan uudistamiseksi. Tärkeimmiksi kriteereiksi uudistamistyössä nousivat palvelun helppokäyttöisyys käyttöliittymän ja ylläpidon osalta sekä ulkoasun edustavuus.

WWW-sivut haluttiin toteuttaa Drupal-sisällönhallintajärjestelmällä. Drupal on avoimeen lähdekoodiin perustuva php-koodipohjainen sekä modulaarinen järjestelmä. Avoin lähdekoodi antaa mahdollisuuden kehittää ja muokata järjestelmää haluamaansa suuntaan jatkossa. Drupal tuli valituksi muun muassa sen lisenssimaksuttomuuden sekä järjestelmän jatkokehitysmahdollisuuden vuoksi.

Opinnäytetyössä tutustutaan sisällönhallintajärjestelmän käsitteeseen sekä erityisesti Drupal-sisällönhallintajärjestelmään. Pääpaino opinnäytetyössä on kuitenkin verkkotuotantoprojektin vaiheiden läpikäynnissä sekä teoriassa että käytännössä. Lähteinäni olivat verkkotuotantoa sekä sisällönhallintajärjestelmiä koskeva kirjallisuus ja verkkomateriaali.

Opinnäytetyön teoriapohja auttaa lukijaa ymmärtämään verkkotuotantoprojektin eri vaiheita. Projektin käytännön suunnittelu- ja tuotantovaiheiden läpikäynnin tehtävänä on kertoa mitä projektissa tehtiin juuri toimeksiantajan näkökulmasta. Tuloksena syntyi vaatimusmäärittelyn mukainen verkkopalvelu. Opinnäytetyön verkkopalvelun toteutusvaiheeseen tutustuminen voi toimia samalla myös aloittavan projektityöläisen aloitusoppaana omaa verkkotuotantoprojektia suunnitellessa sekä lyhyenä esittelynä ja oppaana Drupal-sisällönhallintajärjestelmän asennukseen, konfigurointiin, moduulien asennus- ja valintaprosessiin sekä teeman muokkaukseen.

Luodun verkkopalvelun jatkokehitysmahdollisuudet ovat varsin hyvät. Toimeksiantajalta löytyy aiempaa kokemusta ja tietotaitoa palvelun uusien ominaisuuksien kehittämiseen ja jo käytössä olevia järjestelmien liittämiseen Drupal-järjestelmään. Verkkopalvelua onkin kehitettävä yritysmaailman sisällönhallintajärjestelmän (engl. Enterprise CMS) suuntaan. Tämä tarkoittaa sitä, että verkkopalvelussa voisi yhdistellä eri tiedonlähteitä, toimintoja ja julkaisuja. Pääpaino jatkokehityksessä on kuitenkin eri toimintojen yhdistely osaksi Drupal-järjestelmää sen käytännön hyötyjen vuoksi.

The thesis is functional and it was commissioned by IT-parkki Co-op. They had the need to regenerate the design and technique of their website. The most important thing was to create a web service that is user-friendly and easy to maintain. Also appearance of the website was important.

The client wanted to create the website with Drupal Content Management System (CMS). Drupal CMS is an open source php-code based and modular system. Because the system is open source, it enables to develop and modify the system in the future. Drupal CMS was chosen among other things because its license is free to use and future development is possible.

The thesis presents what the content management system is and especially what Drupal CMS is. The main thing in the thesis was to go through the different phases of the web-production in theory and practice. The sources of the thesis were literature and web material of web-production and content management systems.

The theory of the thesis helps the reader to understand the phases of web-production in general. The purpose of going through the phases of design and production in practice was to tell what was made in the project in practice. The result is a web service that meets the requirements analysis. Exploring the phases of web-production can be the starting guide for a novice project worker, as well as act as a short introduction and guide on how to install, configure, choose and install modules and modify the theme on Drupal CMS.

Possibilities for future development of the web service are quite good. The client has previous experience on Drupal CMS and knowledge to develop new features or integrate its own systems to Drupal system. The created web service must be developed to the direction of Enterprise CMS. It means that different kinds of data sources, features and publications can be integrated in the web service. However, the main thing in the future development is to integrate the features to be the part of the Drupal-system for its practical benefits.
