Tietoliikenneverkon kartoitus ja laajennus

Abstract

Opinnäytetyön aihe valittiin toimeksiantajan tarpeen mukaisesti. Aiheena oli Ruukki Oyj Hämeenlinnan putkitehtaan tietoliikenneverkon kartoitus ja laajennus. Tavoitteena oli tutkia tietoliikenneverkon kapasiteettia ja mahdollista laajennusta ottaen huomioon kustannustehokkuus ja toimi-vuus. Työ aloitettiin tutkimalla tietoliikenneverkkoa ja kartoittamalla vir-heet ja puutteelliset toiminnot, jotka ilmenevät verkossa. Näiden asioiden pohjalta tehtiin verkkolaajennus.

Työtä helpottivat materiaalien runsaus ja asiantuntijoiden käytettävyys. Aiheeseen liittyvä kirjallisuutta oli runsaasti tarjolla. Suunnitelmassa oli tarkoituksena tutkia langattoman verkon mahdollisuudet putkitehtaalla, mutta kustannusten ja käytettävyyden takia jouduttiin luopumaan toteu-tuksesta. Lähitulevaisuudessa tämäkin tekniikka otetaan varmasti putkiteh-tailla käyttöön, kunhan sen tarve kasvaa.

The topic of the present thesis was assigned by Ruukki Corporation, the subject being Mapping and Expansion of the pipe factory in Hämeenlinna. The objective is to study the capacity of the data communication network and its possible extension considering cost efficiency and functionality. Background research was conducted by studying Ruukki’s network and determining errors or incomplete functions that appeared in the network. Based on the information observed we came to the solution of expanding the current network used at Ruukki’s pipe line factory.

The work was facilitated by the abundance of materials, support of a tech-nician provided by the work instructor and the literature available relevant to the subject. According to the plan, the possible wireless network was to be studied at Ruukki, but this was abandoned due to its expenses and ne-cessity at the moment. However I strongly believe that this technique will be employed at the pipe factories when its consumption increases.
