Maisterisainesta: Lihatalous-lehden ulkoasun uudistaminen

Abstract

Opinnäytetyöni aihe on Lihatalous-lehden ulkoasun uudistaminen. Tavoitteena oli nykyaikaistaa lehden typografiaa sekä luoda lehdelle selkeä rakenne. Lisäksi lehdelle haluttiin omanlaisensa ulkoasu, jotta se erottuisi kilpailijoistaan pysyen silti visuaalisesti oman genrensä tyylilajin piirissä. Uudistus käsitti kaikki aikakauslehden ulkoasun osa-alueet, paitsi formaatin ja paperin laadun. Typografian ja omintakeisen ilmeen osalta uudistus onnistui hyvin. Sen sijaan lehden rakenteesta ei tullut riittävän selkeä. Jutut lehden kolmessa osastossa eivät poikkea toisistaan tarpeeksi esimerkiksi pituuden ja käsittelytavan perusteella, jotta jokaisella osastolla olisi oma luonteensa. Lisäksi numerokohtainen teema ei eroa riittävästi lehden muista artikkeleista.

The subject of my thesis is to redesign the magazine Lihatalous. The purpose was to modernize the typography of the magazine and create a clear structure. Furthermore, the magazine needed a personal visual identity in order to stand out its rivals and at the same time remain amongst the visual style of its genre. The redesign covered all the sectors of the magazine layout except the paper type and the format. The redesign was successful when it comes to typography and the personal outlook. The structure, however, did not turn out clear enough. The articles in three sections of the magazine don’t differ enough from each other in style and length in order to create a character of it’s own for each section. Moreover, the topic of each issue does not stand out enough the other articles.
