Tarina metsänväestä : Tanssiteos paikallisuuden ilmentäjänä

Abstract

Opinnäytetyöni on taiteellisena tilaustyönä tehty ulkoilmateos Sodankylään Jutarinki ry:lle. Heidän puheenjohtaja Riina Lindberg tilasi työn toiveena, että se pohjautuu paikalliseen kulttuuriperimään. Tapahtumapaikka oli ennalta määrätty, kuten myös teoksen ulkoinen muoto. Sain tehtäväksi tuottaa käsikirjoituksen sekä huolehtia sen ohjauksesta ja tanssikohtausten koreografioista.

Tavoitteeni oli luoda ulkoilmateos, joka soveltuisi Jutaringin tanssinharrastajille ja Lapin Urheiluopiston tanssialan perustutkinnon opiskelijoille. Taiteellisen opinnäytetyön ensiesityksen tuli olla joulukuussa 2011 ja sen toivottiin olevan toistettavissa useampana vuonna.

Tämä kirjallinen raportti on toinen osa taiteellista opinnäytetyötäni. Taiteellinen osa toteutettiin yhteistyössä Jutarinki ry:n ja Lapin Urheiluopiston tanssialan perustutkinnon kanssa. Tässä raportissa käsittelen taiteellisen opinnäytetyöni tekoprosessia ja lopputulosta. Työtä varten tutustuin käsitteisiin identiteetti, paikallinen identiteetti ja paikan merkitys.

Taiteellinen opinnäytetyö onnistui vastaamaan sille asetettuja tavoitteita. Lopputuloksena oli Tarina metsänväestä -ulkoilmateos, jota on esitetty joulukuussa 2011 ja 2012. Lisäksi vuoden 2013 Tarina metsänväestä on parhaillaan uuden lämmityksen alla. Teoksen toistettavuudessa onnistuttiin, ja oman kulttuuriperimän käyttö kantavana teemana oli toimiva ratkaisu. Yhteistyö Lapin Urheiluopiston kanssa oli antoisaa ja toi teokseen tanssillista syvyyttä.

Matkailulle suunnattuna kulttuurituotteena teos ei ole saavuttanut sille asetettuja yleisömääriä. Markkinoinnin lisääminen omatoimimatkailijoille sekä paikallisille matkailuyrittäjille on tarpeen, jos teokselle asetetut yleisötavoitteet halutaan saavuttaa.

My thesis was to make an outdoor performance for Jutarinki Youth Association in Sodankylä. Their president Riina Lindberg wanted it to base in local cultural heritage. The venue was determinated in advance as was it’s form. My job was to create the script, act as a director and as choreographer.

My goal was to create an outdoor performance that would fit the students of Jutarinki Youth Association and the students of Santasport Institute Fundamental Vocational Education the First Degree in Dance. The premier of the artistic thesis was supposed to be in December 2011 and the performance was hoped to be repeatable years to come.

This study is a second part of my artistic thesis. The artistic part of the thesis was executed in cooperation with the students of Jutarinki Youth Association and the students of Santasport Institute Fundamental Vocational Education the First Degree in Dance. In this study I open the prosess and results. In this study I introduce following terms: identity, local identity and the meaning of place.

Given goals were achieved. The result was an outdoor performance named The Story of the Forest Inhabitants and it has been performed in December 2011 and 2012. Currently it’s under construction for December 2013. Repeatability of the performance was succesfully achieved and the local cultural heritage as a theme worked brilliantly. Cooperation with the Santasport Institution was fruitful and it gave depth to the movement of the performance.

As a cultural product designed for tourism the performance has not achieved the amount of audience as it was hoped. The marketing of the performance should be addressed more forcefully if we want to reach more audience.
