Jäsenlehti jalkapalloseuran käyntikorttina : Näin tehdään PPJ Junnulehti koko Etelä-Helsingille

Abstract

Opinnäytetyömme on keväällä 2013 helsinkiläiselle jalkapalloseuralle Pallo-Pojat Junioreille tekemämme PPJ Junnulehti sekä lehden tekoprosessista kertova raportti. Raportti toimii paitsi selostuksena työprosessista, myös eräänlaisena opaskirjana tuleville Junnulehden tekijöille. Opinnäytetyö on produktityyppinen.

Opinnäytetyöstämme käy ilmi, millaisia juttuja ideoimme ja teimme Junnulehteen, miten työprosessi eteni sekä se, mitä 28-sivuisen, laajalevikkisen jäsenlehden suunnittelu ja toteutus vaatii. Raportissa on perusteltu lehdessä toteutuneita ratkaisuja sekä valotettu kohderyhmäajattelua lehdenteon lähtökohtana.

Junnulehti käsittelee etelähelsinkiläistä ja suomalaista jalkapalloa monipuolisesti mielenkiintoisien henkilöiden ja ilmiöiden kautta. Sisältö on hyvää journalistista tekstiä ammattimaisten kuvien säestämänä. Junnulehti pyrkii sekä informoimaan Pallo-Pojat Juniorien nykyisiä jäseniä että houkuttelemaan uusia jäseniä seuraan. Se toimii eräänlaisena seuran käyntikorttina.

Joonas Heinonen ja Markku Saarinen suunnittelivat ja toteuttivat lehden pääosin kahdestaan toimeksiantajan Pallo-Pojat Juniorien asettamien reunaehtojen puitteissa. Heinosen ja Saarisen lisäksi lehden tekoprosessiin osallistui muutamia avustajia.

Toteuttamamme Junnulehti 1/2013 julkaistiin toista kertaa kyseisessä muodossaan. Junnulehti aiotaan julkaista samalla konseptilla myös keväällä 2014. Olemme saaneet kevään 2013 numerosta pelkästään positiivista palautetta, joten ainakin sillä perusteella onnistuimme projektissa. Tavoitteena on, että tämä raportti auttaa myös seuraavia Junnulehden tekijöitä pääsemään samaan lopputulokseen kuin me keväällä 2013.

The goal of this thesis was to create the 2013 spring edition of PPJ Junnulehti, the official magazine of a Helsinki-based football club Pallo-Pojat Juniorit (or PPJ). This report acts not only as a narrative of the work process, but also as a guide for future editors of the magazine. The report aims to thoroughly explain the process and the concept of the magazine as a whole. This was a product-related thesis.

The report shows how the contents of the magazine were planned and executed, how the process moved forward and what it takes to build a 28-page magazine that is spread widely in southern Helsinki. The report rationalizes the thinking behind editorial decisions and also deals with the importance of targeting specific audiences in editorial work.

Junnulehti is a magazine that revolves around the theme of football. It contains diverse stories about the sport and its interesting personalities in southern Helsinki and the whole of Finland. The content is made in good journalistic fashion accompanied with professional photographs. Junnulehti aims to inform the members of the club, and also spread the word to potential new players and their families. By doing this it acts as a sort of a business card. By reading the magazine, you get a general view of what PPJ is all about.

The authors planned the magazine together in accordance with the wishes of the club. The magazine also contains material from a few additional contributors.

The 2013 spring edition was the second time Junnulehti was published as a wide-spread tabloid magazine. PPJ aims to publish the magazine again in the same fashion in 2014. The feedback the authors have received from the readers and the club has been solely positive. The aim of this report is to give future editors all the necessary tools to learn from our mistakes and to succeed in creating the magazine in years to come.
