Seksuaalikasvatus varhaiskasvatuksessa : podcast-opetusmateriaali Tampereen varhaiskasvatusyksikköön

Abstract

Opinnäytetyön tarkoituksena oli kartoittaa erään Tampereen varhaiskasvatusyksikön henkilöstön tiedontarpeita, jotka liittyvät seksuaalikasvatukseen sekä toteuttaa tarpeiden pohjalta henkilöstölle opetusmateriaali. Opinnäytetyössä selvitettiin laadullisin menetelmin, mistä seksuaalikasvatuksen osa-alueista varhaiskasvatuksen henkilöstö halusi lisää tietoa. Opinnäytetyön tavoitteena on opetusmateriaalin avulla lisätä varhaiskasvatuksen henkilöstön tietoja ja taitoja seksuaalikasvatukseen liittyen. Yhteistyöpäiväkodille tuotettu opetusmateriaali on poistettu julkisesta opinnäytetyöraportista.

Kyselyssä selvisi, että seksuaalikasvatusta pidettiin kyseisessä varhaiskasvatusyksikössä tärkeänä, sillä se koettiin muun muassa perustaksi lasten itsetunnon kehittymiselle. Seksuaalisuuden koettiin olevan keskeinen osa ihmisyyttä. Hyvinvoinnin ja terveyden, tunteiden sekä normien ja tapojen osa-alueista haluttiin lisää tietoa ja materiaalia. Tietoa toivottiin etenkin lasten kanssa käytävistä seksuaalikasvatukseen liittyvistä keskusteluista.

Varhaiskasvatuksen henkilöstö kuvaili podcast-opetusmateriaalia hyvin tehdyksi, tiiviiksi, informatiiviseksi sekä sopivan pituiseksi. Varhaiskasvatuksen henkilöstö koki podcast- opetusmateriaalin osittain vastanneen heidän tarpeisiinsa. Osa tiedoista oli heille jo ennestään tuttua, mutta mukana oli myös uutta. Varhaiskasvatuksen henkilöstö koki podcastien herättäneen heidän vanhaa, aiheeseen liittyvää osaamistaan. He kokivat, että varhaiskasvatuksen kiireisessä arjessa alkaa helposti toimia kaavamaisesti, joten herättelystä on aina hyötyä.

The purpose of the thesis was to examine the information needs of early childhood educators of the Tampere early childhood education unit in relation to sexual education. Qualitative methods were used to find out the areas of sexual education that the early childhood educators would like more information about. After the data was examined, podcast teaching materials were developed according to their needs. The aim of the teaching materials was to increase knowledge and skills related to sexual education. The teaching materials produced for the early childhood unit have been removed from the public report.

The study found that sexual education was seen as important in the early childhood education unit. This kind of education was seen as the basis for the development of children self-esteem. The areas of sexual education that the early childhood educators would like more information on were welfare and health; emotions; norms and habits. More information was requested especially about discussions with children about sexuality. Educators also said that they would like to have more materials.

Early childhood educators found that the podcast teaching materials were well-made, concise and informative. They also thought that the podcasts had an appropriate length. The educators felt that the podcast teaching materials partly met their needs. Some of the information was already familiar to them, but some of the information was new. The early childhood educators felt that podcasts had rekindled their interest in the old knowledge related to the subject
