Rahastot piensijoittajalle: Normaalit sijoitusrahastot vs erikoisrahastot

Abstract

Tämän opinnäytetyön aiheena olivat rahastosijoittamisen eri muodot piensijoittajan näkökulmasta. Työn tarkoituksena oli selvittää normaalien sijoitusrahastojen ja erikoisrahastojen eroavaisuuksia, ottaen huomioon rahastojen erilaiset riskit ja muut rahastoihin vaikuttavat tekijät. Tavoitteena oli saada selville, ovatko erikoisrahastot yhtä hyviä sijoitusvaihtoehtoja piensijoittajalle kuin normaalit sijoitusrahastot.

Tutkimuksen teoriaosuudessa käsiteltiin rahastojen perusajatus ja rakenne, rahastosijoittamisen historiaa Suomessa, piensijoittajalle sopivat eri rahastovaihtoehdot ja niihin liittyvää lainsäädäntöä, rahastosijoittamiseen ja eri rahastoihin liittyvät riskit sekä rahastojen mittaamiseen kehitetyt tuoton, riskin ja muiden osa-alueiden mittarit.

Tutkimuksessa käytettiin kvantitatiivista eli määrällistä tutkimusmenetelmää. Kvantitatiivisen tutkimuksen luonteen mukaisesti tämäkin tutkimus toteutettiin tilastotietouden ja laskelmien perusteella. Tutkimukseen valitut rahastot valittiin niiden kohdemarkkinoiden, sisällön ja menestyneisyyden pohjalta. Mahdollisimman laajan kuvan saamiseksi rahastot valittiin eri pankeilta ja rahastoyhtiöiltä. Vertailu toteutettiin jakamalla rahastot vertailuryhmiin kohdemarkkinoiden perusteella, jotta valitut rahastot altistuivat samoilla markkinamuutoksille keskenään. Tutkimuksen ajankohta oli viiden vuoden jakso kesästä 2008 kesään 2013.

Opinnäytetyön tulos osoitti, että myös erikoisrahastot ovat piensijoittajalle sopivia rahastovaihtoehtoja ja kannattaa ottaa huomioon sijoitussuunnitelmaa tehdessä.

The subject of this thesis was different type of funds from the perspective of small time investor. Purpose was to find out the differences between so called normal funds and so called special funds like hedge-funds by considering different risks and other factors that may affect these funds. Main goal was to find out if these special funds could compete with normal funds as a good investment.

The theory part of this thesis consisted of the basic idea of investing in funds, different types of funds, which are suitable for small time investors, the structure of them and little bit history of funds in Finland. Also the most important parts of legislation of funds were explained, the risks that they consist and different indicators that can be used to measure risks and profits of funds.

The research method of this thesis was quantitative method. The nature in quantitative research is to use statistics and numeral information as was also done in this thesis. The funds that were compared were selected because of their market, stock content and success. To gain wider perspective the funds were from different banks and companies that specialize in funds. Comparison was executed by dividing the funds in to groups by their target market. This way the funds suffered from the same market risks between themselves. Time period was from June 2008 to June 2013.

As the result of this thesis shows, also special funds like hedge-funds are suitable for small time investor and are worth taking into account when planning investing in funds.
