Emulator of the read-out chain

Abstract

The goal of the project is to remove the need of real hardware from the PC side of the TOTEM online software development. Thesis contains project management and implementation. The project management is build around SCRUM. The implementation is divided in CRC optimization and emulator implementation. The new CRC algorithm will be used in multiple locations in CERN. The performance gain compared to the old CRC algorithm was very good. The emulator was implemented and it is producing data as required.

Työn tavoitteena oli toteuttaa emulaattori jolla oikein raudan tarve PC ohjelmiston tuotekehityksessä pystyttäisiin poistamaan. Työ sisältää projektin hallinnan ja ohjelmiston toteutuksen. Projektin hallinta on rakennettu SCRUM menetelmään perustuen. Ohjelmisto toteutus on jaettu CRC optimointiin ja emulaattori toteutukseen. CRC optimionti onnistui ja saavutetut tulokset suhteessa vanhaan algoritmiin olivat erinomaiset. Emulaattori saatiin toimimaan tavoitteet saavuttaen.
