Esityskäsityskartoitus

Abstract

Tämä opinnäytetyö kartoittaa ammatikseen teatteri- ja taidealan ulkopuolella toimivien ihmisten käsityksiä ja kokemuksia esityksen tekemisestä ja sen kokemisesta. Työssä selvitetään myös, millä tavoin esitys-sana ymmärretään.

Työ rakentuu haastatteluäänitteiden litteroinneista ja tekijöiden niiden pohjalta kirjoittamasta omasta pohdinnasta. Kunkin haastattelun lähtökohtana on tehtävänanto "Määritä/määrittele esitys yhdellä lauseella". Haastattelujen tavoitteena on antaa tilaa haastateltavan omalle pohdinnalle ja välttää tekijöiden omien käsitysten puimista tai vahvistamista. Litteroinneissa on pyritty säilyttämään haastateltavien autenttinen ilmaisutapa. Litteroinnin yhteydessä tuotettu tekijöiden oma pohdinta pyrkii dialogiin haastateltavien intuitiivisen ajatusten sanallistamisen kanssa. Haastattelumateriaalia on myös jaoteltu aiheittain.

Työ on verkkosivumuotoinen ja sivujen kautta lukijan on mahdollista kommentoida lukemaansa. Tämä mahdollistaa dialogin jatkumisen ja kehittymisen jatkossakin, sillä aihe elää jatkuvasti ja vaatii siis tulevaisuudessa päivittämistä ja uudelleenarviointia. Työn tavoitteena ei ole esittää absoluuttista totuutta. Haastattelujen perusteella tekijät tekevät yhteenvedon kuulemastaan ja ja pohtimastaan.

The present thesis is a survey of conceptions about creating and experiencing performances, mainly of people working outside the professional field of Performing Arts. It also explores ways in which the word "performance" is understood.

The thesis comprises transcriptions of interview recordings in addition to original reflections by the authors suggested by them. Each interview is based on the task of defining the word "performance" in a single phrase. The goal of the interviews is to allow unrestric- ted contemplation by the subject, and to specifically avoid discussing or enforcing the authors' personal viewpoints. The transcriptions aim to retain the subjects' singular methods of expression. The reflections inspired by the transcriptions strive to create a dialogue with the subjects' intuitive thoughts. Portions of the interview material have also been arranged by recurring themes.

The thesis is in the form of a website and allows the readers to send comments to the authors. This allows continuation and development of the dialogue, as the subject matter is ever evolving and, therefore, going to require updating and re-evaluation in the future. The thesis does not presume to present an absolute truth of the subject matter. The authors summarize the content and reflections on the website.
