Nuorten näkökulma Talk-hankkeen toimivuudesta Turun kaupungin lastensuojelun jälkihuollossa

Abstract

Tässä tutkimuksessa tutkitaan nuorten näkökulmaa Talk-hankkeen toimivuudesta Turun kaupungin lastensuojelun jälkihuollossa. Vuoden 2013 alussa käynnistynyt Talk-hanke perustuu Turun kaupungin ja valtion välille sovittuun aiesopimukseen, jonka lähtökohtana on hallituksen Pitkäaikaisasunnottomuuden vähentämisohjelma (2012–2015). Talk-hanke tarjoaa tukea ja ohjausta lastensuojelun jälkihuollon nuorille, jotka ovat asunnottomia tai heillä on riski joutua asunnottomaksi. Tutkimus on kvantitatiivinen tutkimus, jonka aineisto on kerätty Webropol-kyselytyökalun avulla. Tutkimus on toteutettu keväällä 2014. Talk-hankkeen 52 nuoresta 24 vastasi kyselyymme. Tutkimuksessa selvitetään, miten Talk-hankkeelle asetetut tavoitteet ovat toteutuneet nuorten näkökulmasta, miten nuoret ovat kokeneet työntekijöiden antaman tuen sekä millaisia kehittämisideoita nuorilla on hankkeeseen liittyen. Asunnottomuus, nuorten syrjäytyminen ja huostaanoton vaikutus nuorten myöhäisemmässä elämässä ovat tutkimuksemme keskeisimpiä teemoja. Tutkimuksen tuloksista käy ilmi nuorten myönteinen kokemus Talk-hankkeen toiminnasta ja ohjaajien antamasta tuesta. Asunnottomina olleet nuoret ovat saaneet hankkeen kautta asunnon ja nuorten elämäntilanteissa on tapahtunut positiivisia muutoksia, kuten päihteiden käytön vähentymistä. Ohjaajan tuki koettiin riittäväksi ja nuoret olivat tyytyväisiä työntekijöiden kanssa tehtävään yhteistyöhön. Valtaosa nuorista koki Talk-hankkeen vaikuttaneen elämäänsä positiivisesti. Tulokset osoittavat, että Turun kaupungin lastensuojelun jälkihuollossa toimiva Talk-hanke palvelee haastavissa elämäntilanteissa olevia nuoria heidän tarvitsemallaan tavalla. Ohjaajan antama tuki ja käytettävissä olevat muut palvelut auttavat nuoria selviytymään erilaisista haasteista sekä suuntaamaan kohti itsenäistä elämää.

This study focuses on young people's perspectives on the Talk-project, which functions in the after treatment policy of the child welfare work in Turku. Started in 2013,Talk-project is based on the letter of intent between the city of Turku and the state. It's premise is the reduction program of long-term homelessness of the state(2012-2015). Talk-project offers support and guidance to the young people that are growing to be independent, who are currently in the after treatment of the child welfare policy. The study is a quantitative study which material is collected with Webrobol-query tool. The research has been done in the beginning of the year 2014. 24 of 52 youngsters of the Talk-project responded to the query. The research focuses to find out how the goals of the Talk-project have been reached from the perspective of youngsters, how the youngsters have been experiencing the support given by the counselors and what kind of ideas young people have about the project that could improve. Homelessness, the marginalization of the youth and the involvement in custody in the future life of the youth are some of the main themes of our study. The findings of the study prove clearly a positive experience within the youngsters, relating to their experience on the Talk-project and the support given by the counselors. Youngsters who had been homeless have now got an apartment and there has been some positive changes in their lives such as reduction of drug abuse. The youngsters experienced that the support given by the counselor was sufficient and and that they were pleased with the cooperation occurring with the counselor. The majority of youngsters in the Talk-project experienced that the project had been effecting their lives positively. Findings of the study point out that talk-project, working in the after treatment of child welfare policy in the city of Turku is helping out the youngsters in the way they need in their challenging situations. The support given by the counselor and the available service network help the people to manage the challenges of growing independent towards the life of an adult.
