This thesis aims to elucidate how to recognize older people abuse in the nursing field, the kind of abuse and nursing interventions that can be used to avoid them. In that regard, this research is oriented towards engendering better understanding of elderly mistreatment and raising awareness of older people abuse. Employing literature review as its research method, the study draws on reviews of 20 articles sought from notable repositors namely PubMed and CINHAL to achieve its aim. Abuse of the older people may occur in any nursing filed where care is been provided, these include home, nursing homes, health centers, and hospitals. Abuse of the elderly takes many forms such as physical abuse, sexual, financial, psychological emotional abuse, and care giver neglect. The perpetrators might be family members, care givers, or strangers. Because many occurrences of elder abuse go unreported, determining the incidence of such abuse is challenging. According to the findings, clinical indications and indicators pointing to various kinds of abuse may be used to identify older people abuse. The use of screening techniques such as BASE, EPAS, EIOA, CASE and EAI may also aid in the detection of elder abuse. Screening techniques such as VASS are unreliable and cannot be used to diagnose senior abuse, but they may be used to estimate the risk of abuse in the elderly. Nurses and care givers are key in ensuring the safety of elderly in various nursing fields. Nurses must be knowledgeable of regulations and laws against elder abuse. Likewise, both informal caregivers and nurses may utilize a variety of successful measures to avoid older people abuse. Both older persons and health care providers need to be educated to avoid elder abuse and reporting must be encouraged.-
