Laita-elementtien suunnittelu bocce peliin

Abstract

Opinnäytetyön aiheena oli suunnitella kehitysvammaisille tarkoitettuun bocce tarkkuuspallopeliin laidat. Toimeksiantaja Suomen vammaisurheilu ja –liikunta (VAU) ry on tuomassa suomeen uutta bocce peliä, mikä on kehitetty erityisesti kehitysvammaisille ihmisille. Opinnäytetyön tavoitteena oli suunnitella toimeksiantajalle bocce peliä varten yksittäisistä ja muodoltaan yksinkertaisista elementeistä koostuvat kevyet ja pinottavat laidat. Nykyään lajissa käytössä olevat laidat ovat hankalia käyttää, esimerkiksi niiden suuren painon ja hankalan varastoimisen vuoksi.

Tuotekehitysprojekti lähti liikkeelle lajiin ja käyttäjäkuntaan tutustumisella ja lajin ympärillä olevien ilmiöiden tunnistamisella. Suomessa ei kyseisellä lajilla ole vielä harrastajia, joten peliin tutustuminen täytyi tehdä muulla tavoin. Materiaalia opinnäytetyötä varten kerättiin Internetin kautta kuvien ja videoiden avulla tutustuen lajiin. Havainnoimalla lajissa jo ennestään käytössä olevien laitojen ja pelivälineiden ominaisuuksia ja materiaaleja, joita maailmalla oli käytössä. Lisäaineistoa saatiin myös muita urheilulajeja tutkimalla, joissa laitoja oli käytössä.

Projekti eteni toimeksiantajalta saatujen ohjeiden ja bocce lajin sääntöjen tuomien kriteereiden ohjeistamana kohti suunnittelutyötä. Markkinoilta ja käytöstä löytyvien laitojen pohjalta aloitettiin uusien ideoiden hahmottaminen. Luonnoksien pohjalta tehtiin hahmo- ja protomalleja, joita esiteltiin toimeksiantajalle. Ohjaajat antoivat hyviä neuvoja mm. materiaalien valintaan.

Opinnäytetyön tuloksena syntyi konsepti laidoista bocce peliä varten. Materiaaliksi valittiin alumiini sen hyvien ominaisuuksien keveyden ja jäykkyyden vuoksi. Seuraava vaihe on viedä projektia eteenpäin etsien sille mahdollista valmistajaa, ja pyytää heiltä tarjous laitojen valmistuksesta.

The topic of this thesis was to design a game sides for bocce ballgame. Assigned by Finnish disability sport and physical activity (VAU) Association is bringing a new bocce ballgame, which was especially developed for people with intellectual disabilities. The aim of this thesis was to design a game of bocce applicant for the individual and the form of simple elements consist of lightweight and stackable sides. Today on the sides in use are difficult to use, for example, because of their great weight and challenging way to storage. The design project started by exploring the sport and the possible users. There are no any bocce athlete´s in Finland yet, so getting to know the game had to be done in some other way i.e. getting to know the Internet photos and videos to the sport and the already existing tie-down and the game features tools and materials, which were in use around the world. Also other sports were examined, where the different kinds of sides were used. The project went from the client's instructions and the rules of bocce sport imported by the criteria instructions towards the design work. The market and use can be found on the sides was initiated on the basis of new ideas, conceptualization. Sketches were made on the basis of character and prototype models that were presented to the client. The mentors gave good advice, for example the choice of materials. The thesis resulted in the concept from the sides of bocce game. Aluminium was chosen as the final material for sides due stiffness and lightness. The next step is to take the project forward in seeking a possible manufacturer, if the concept can be found in the client side of the funding.
