4PL-palvelun tarjoaminen : Case: Ewalds Cargo Aktiebolag Filial in Finland

Abstract

Tämän työn tavoitteena oli tutkia ulkoistamista yleisellä tasolla ja esitellä ulkoistamisen erilaisia ratkaisuja ja prosesseja. Tavoitteena oli tutkia ja esitellä taustaa ja erilaisia malleja siitä, minkälaisia prosesseja ulkoistaminen pitää sisällään: Minkälaisilla eri tavoilla se voidaan järjestää sekä mitä mahdollisuuksia ja riskejä ulkoistamiseen liittyy? Työssä syvennyttiin tutkimaan 4Pl-palvelumallia, miten tämän palvelumallin tarjoaminen aloitetaan ja mitä eri vaiheita 4Pl-palveluntarjoamiseen sisältyy. Työssä selvitettiin hyödyt, riskit ja säästöt mitä 4PL-palvelun käytöstä syntyy niin palveluntarjoajayritykselle kuin asiakasyritykselle.

Opinnäytetyöhön koostui kahdesta osiosta, teoria ja tutkimus. Työlläni on toimeksiantaja, logistiikkatoimija Ewals Cargo Care AB filial in Finland.

Teoriaosuudessa määriteltiin logistiikan käsitteitä, käytiin läpi logistiikan ulkoistamisen vaiheita sekd logistiikan ulkoistamisen syyt, hyödyt ja riskit. Tämän jälkeen esiteltiin eri logistiikka palvelumuodot sekd erityisesti 4Pl-malli. Lopuksi kuvattiin logististen toimintojen ulkoistamisprosessi.

Tutkimus tehtiin kvalitatiivisena ja se toteutettiin asiantuntijahaastatteluina. Tutkimukseen haastateltiin neljää 4PL-asiantuntijaa.

Työn lopussa esitellään tutkimustulokset sekä tulosten pohjalta tehty yhteenveto. Tutkimustulosten perusteella voidaan sanoa, että yritysten kannattaa lähteä tarjoamaan 4Pl-palvelua asiakasyrityksille.

The aim of this study was to examine outsourcing on a general level and to introduce different solutions and processes of outsourcing. The aim was to explore and present the background and different models of the processes involves, the different ways it can be organized in and the opportunities and risks associated with outsourcing. This thesis went deeper to explore the 4PL service model, how to start providing this service model and what kind of different steps are involved in providing 4PL service. ln this thesis were found out the benefits, risks and savings that using the 4PL service brings to the service provider and to the customer company.

The thesis consisted of two sections, theory and research. The work was commissioned by a client, logistics provider Ewals Cargo Care AB in Finland.

The theoretical part defined logistics concepts and went through points of outsourcing logistics and the causes, benefits and risks of logistics outsourcing. Subsequently various forms of logistics services were introduced, in particular the 4PL model. Finally, the outsourcing process of logistic functions was described.

The research was qualitative and it was carried out by interviewing experts. Four 4PL experts were interviewed.

ln the final section the results of the study and a summary of the results were presented. Based on the results of the research, it can be said that companies should start providing the 4PL service to customer companies.
