Poweria poluilta : luonto osana päihteistä kuntoutumista

Abstract

Poweria poluilta on toiminnallinen opinnäytetyö, jossa tutkin voidaanko luontoa ja sen hyvinvointivaikutuksia hyödyntää osana päihteistä kuntoutumista. Toteutin opinnäytetyöni laadullisena tutkimuksena ja käytin tiedonkeruumenetelmänä havainnointia. Opinnäytetyöhöni sisältyi luontoretki Lapin ensi- ja turvakoti ry:n päihteistä kuntoutuville aikuisasiakkaille. Keräsin opinnäytetyön aineiston retken aikana havainnoimalla osallistujia sekä pyytämällä palautteen retken jälkeen.

Retken tavoitteena oli vahvistaa osallistujien luontosuhdetta sekä saavuttaa osallistujille luonnon hyvinvointivaikutuksia. Luontoretken aikana harjoittelimme luonnon tietoista havainnointia sekä aistien herkistämistä luonnon elementeille, jotka edesauttavat luontosuhteen vahvistamisessa. Opinnäytetyön aineiston perusteella havaitsin, että retki tuotti osallistujille pääosin myönteisiä vaikutuksia.

Sekä luontosuhteen vahvistamisessa, että luonnon hyvinvointivaikutusten saavuttamisessa tärkeää on säännölliset luontokäynnit. Tämän luontoretken osallistujille toivoin retken antavan kipinän myös itsenäiseen luonnossa liikkumiseen. Toivon tämän opinnäytetyön rohkaisevan myös sosiaali- ja terveysalan ammattilaisia kokeilemaan luontolähtöisiä menetelmiä työssään erilaisten asiakasryhmien parissa.

Power from paths is a functional thesis, in which I researched whether nature and its well-being effects can be utilized as part of alcohol and drug rehabilition. I carried out my thesis as a qualitative study and used observation as the data collection method. My thesis work included a nature excursion for Lapin ensi- ja turvakoti’s drug addict recovering adult customers. I collected the material for the thesis during the excursion by observing the participants and asking for feedback after the excursion.

The goal of the excursion was to strengthen the participants' relationship with nature and achieve the well-being effects of nature for the participants. During the nature excursion, we practiced conscious observation of nature and sensitizing the senses to the elements of nature, which help in strengthening the relationship with nature. Based on the material of the thesis, I found that the excursion produced mostly positive effects for the participants.

Both in strengthening the relationship with nature and in achieving the well-being effects of nature, regular visits to nature are important. For the participants of this nature excursion, I hoped that the excursion would also give a spark to independent movement in nature. I hope this thesis will also encourage social and health professionals to test nature-based methods in their work with different customer groups.
