The objective of this study is to show IT students that interested in mobile application development. Three different mobile platforms (Android, Windows Phone 7 and Symbian) are compared from developer's point of view.
The market of mobile application is growing rapidly in the past few years with lots of manufacturers. This study is useful for students who begin to research about mobile application development. This research will give them a look about mobile development which help them to decide a platform to start with.
Every platform has its pros and cons, three model are researched in this thesis have a good reason to choose. Symbian had dominated the market for over 10 years, even though it old but worth to study. Android market share is growing quickly in the past few years and become the most popular mobile platform. Windows Phone 7 is interesting because it developed by Microsoft and become main platform of Nokia smartphone models.
This thesis aim to give an overview of the example platforms as well as development environment. Also, a sample application development process will be shown in each platform.
