Sairaanhoitajan rooli laskimoverinäytteiden laboratoriotutkimusprosessissa : opas hoitotyön opiskelijoille

Abstract

Tämän opinnäytetyön tarkoituksena oli laatia opas Lapin ammattikorkeakoulun hoitotyön opiskelijoille. Oppaan aiheena oli sairaanhoitajan rooli laskimoverinäytteiden laboratoriotutkimusprosessissa. Prosessissa on kolme eri vaihetta: preanalyyttinen, analyyttinen ja postanalyyttinen. Sairaanhoitaja on erityisesti mukana laboratoriotutkimusprosessin ensimmäisessä eli preanalyyttisessä vaiheessa, sekä viimeisessä eli postanalyyttisessä vaiheessa. Opinnäytetyömme tavoitteena on tuoda ilmi hoitotyön opiskelijoille sairaanhoitajan osaamisen tärkeyden laboratoriotutkimusprosessin eri vaiheissa. Hyvällä ja asiantuntevalla toiminnalla voidaan minimoida virheiden mahdollisuus laboratoriotutkimusprosessin aikana.

Laskimoverinäytteet kuuluvat laboratoriotutkimuksiin, jotka ovat tärkeä osa terveydenhuoltoa, koska niiden avulla hoitotyön ammattilaiset voivat diagnosoida tai poissulkea sairauksia, sekä arvioida ihmisen terveyttä ja seurata asiakkaan hoidon vastetta. Laskimoverinäytteitä otetaan monenlaisissa paikoissa, joissa sairaanhoitajat työskentelevät, kuten avoterveydenhuollossa, poliklinikoilla, hoitoyksiköiden osastoilla, ensihoidossa ja kotisairaanhoidossa. Vaihtelevien olosuhteiden vuoksi sairaanhoitajan on ymmärrettävä laskimoverinäytteen otossa mm. aseptiikka ja näytteen oikeanlainen säilytys ja kuljetus.

Toiminnallisen opinnäytetyön tuotoksena syntyi seitsemän sivuinen opas hoitotyön opiskelijoille. Oppaassa on tiivistetysti kerrottu koko kolmivaiheinen laboratoriotutkimusprosessi. Keräsimme oppaaseen myös yleisimpiä laskimoverinäytteitä ja kerromme niiden lyhenteet, viitearvot sekä mitä alentunut tai kohonnut arvo tarkoittaa. Oppaan voi tulostaa paperisena versiona tai hoitotyön opettajat voivat liittää sen Moodle-alustalle.

The purpose of this thesis was to create a guide for the nursing students in Lapland University of Applied Sciences. The subject of the guide is a nurse’s role in the biological testing process of venous blood samples. There are three stages in the testing process: pre-analytical, analytical and post-analytical. Nurses take part especially in the first, the pre-analytical stage, and the last, post-analytical stage of the biological testing process. The goal of this thesis is to express to nursing students the importance of the nurse’s know-how in different stages of the biological testing process.

The venous blood samples belong to biological testings that are an important part of health care, as they are used by health care professionals to diagnose or exclude illnesses, to evaluate the health of a person, as well as to monitor customer’s response to treatment. Venous blood samples are taken in various places where there are nurses working, such as out-patient treatment, out-patient clinics, care unit departments, prehospital care and home nursing. Because of the versatile circumstances, nurses have to have good understanding in asepsis as well as suitable preserving and transport of the samples, among other things.

As a result of this functional thesis a seven-page guide for nursing students’ use was created. The guide contains a summary of a full three-phase biological testing process. The most common venous blood samples with their abbreviations, reference values, and the indications of too high or too low values were also included in the guide. The guide can be printed out as a paper version or it can potentially be embedded electronically in a learning platform for educational purposes.
