Cocktail-tilaussovelluksen kehittäminen Androidille

Abstract

Tässä opinnäytetyössä keskityttiin kehittämään cocktail-sovellusta, jonka tarkoituksena oli tarjota asiakkaille mahdollisuus selata ravintolan cocktail-valikoimaa ja tehdä tilauksia kätevästi ravintolassa olevan tabletin kautta. Samanaikaisesti sovellukseen toteutettiin ravintolan henkilökunnalle myös erillinen käyttöliittymä, joka mahdollistaa tilausten hallinnan ja seurannan.

Sovellus toteutettiin pääasiassa käyttäen Google Firebase-alustaa ja Android Studio -kehitysympäristöä, joiden yhdistelmä tarjosi tehokkaan backend-ratkaisun sekä tietokannan. Projektin tavoitteena oli luoda toimiva Proof of Concept -versio sovelluksesta, joka voitaisiin testata ja ottaa käyttöön toimeksiantajan, Kempeleen Baarimestarit Oy:n ravintolassa.

Tämä luotu järjestelmä liittyy olennaisesti digitalisaation tuomiin mahdollisuuksiin ravintola-alalla. Tavoitteena oli parantaa ravintolan myyntiä tarjoamalla asiakkaille moderni ja kätevä tilausmahdollisuus sekä helpottaa cocktailien valmistusprosessia ja tilausten käsittelyä ravintolan henkilökunnalle. Opinnäytetyön kautta pyrittiin osoittamaan, kuinka teknologian integrointi ravintolatoimintaan voi edistää myyntiä, parantaa tuotteiden laatua ja virtaviivaistaa henkilökunnan työnkulkua.

The aim of this thesis study was to focus on developing a cocktail application that aimed to provide customers with the opportunity to browse the restaurant's cocktail menu and place orders conveniently through a tablet available in the restaurant.

The application was primarily implemented using the Google Firebase platform and the Android Studio development environment, a combination that provided an efficient backend solution and database. The goal of the project was to create a functional "proof of concept" version of the application that could be tested and deployed in the restaurant of the commissioner’s restaurant, Kempeleen baarimestarit Oy. Simultaneously, a separate user interface for the restaurant staff was implemented in the application, enabling order management and tracking.

The created system is closely related to the possibilities brought by digitalization in the restaurant industry. The aim was to enhance the restaurant's sales by offering customers a modern and convenient ordering option while simplifying the cocktail preparation process and order handling for the restaurant staff. Through this thesis, the objective was to demonstrate how the integration of technology into restaurant operations can boost sales, improve product quality, and streamline the workflow of the staff.
