Lapsi vuorohoidossa, perheiden kokemukset Järvi-Pohjanmaalla

Abstract

Vuorohoidon vaikutuksia perheisiin kokonaisuutena ei ole tutkittu, eikä siitä ole juurikaan tieteellistä teoriaa. Suomen muuttuessa kohti 24/7 yhteiskuntaa vuorohoidon tarve kasvaa vanhempien työskennellessä epätyypillisinä työaikoina. Opinnäytetyömme tarkoituksena oli selvittää perheiden kokemuksia vuorohoidosta kahdessa järvipohjanmaalaisessa vuoropäiväkodissa. Työssämme toimme esiin vuorohoitoa käyttävien perheiden kokemustietoa ja avasimme sen avulla tutkimuskysymyksemme ”mitä vuoropäiväkotien asiakkaina olevat perheet ajattelevat vuorohoidosta?” Tutkimuksemme suunnattiin kaikille yhteistyöpäiväkodeissamme vuorohoitoa käyttäville perheille, joita oli yhteensä 38. Toteutimme tutkimuksemme vanhemmille suunnatun kyselylomakkeen avulla. Lomake sisälsi niin määrällisiä kuin laadullisiakin elementtejä. Tutkimuksemme vastausprosentti oli 50 (n=19).

Kyselylomakkeemme oli jaettu teemoittain, ja tutkimustulokset avattiin samojen otsikoiden alla. Nämä olivat: epäsäännöllinen hoitorytmi, päivähoidon sisältö lasten kannalta, päivähoidon laatu lasten näkökulmasta, päivähoidon laatu vanhempien näkökulmasta sekä perhe ja vanhemmuus. Tutkimuksen analysointimenetelmänä käytimme SPSS- ja Excel- ohjelmia sekä avoimien kysymysten kohdalla teemoittelua.

Tutkimuksemme mukaan perheet olivat tyytyväisiä samaansa vuorohoitoon. Vanhemmat toivoivat kasvatuskumppanuuteen ja vuorohoidon tarjontaan kiinnitettävän enemmän huomiota päiväkotien puolelta. Vanhemmat kaipaisivat enemmän oman lapsensa päivästä kertovaa tietoa hoitoon vienti- ja hakutilanteissa. Huomion arvoinen tutkimustulos oli, että varhaiskasvatussuunnitelma ei ollut kaikille vanhemmille käsitteenä tuttu. Vanhempien oma jaksaminen huoletti monia. Varhaiskasvatuksen tulisikin tukea vanhempien jaksamista varmistamalla perheiden vuorohoidon saatavuus.

The effects of nonstandard hours child care on families have not been studied. There is very little scientific knowledge on this subject. The purpose of our thesis was to investigate the experiences of families that have children in two nonstand-ard hour kindergartens in the Lake District of South Ostrobothnia. Our work brings about the families’ knowledge and experiences regarding the research question: "What do the families think about the nonstandard hour child care?” Our experiment was aimed at all users in our cooperation kindergarten, 38 in number. We collected the data by a questionnaire for the parents. The questionnaire included both quantitative and qualitative elements. The response rate was 50 (n = 19).

The questionnaire was divided into themes, and the findings were explained. These were: an irregular rhythm care, day care for children in terms of content, the quality of day care for children, day care quality from the perspective of the parents, as well as family and parenting. For the research analysis we used SPSS and Excel programs, and for the open questions we used the theme groups.

According to our research, families were satisfied with the child care they received. Parents wished that more attention would be paid to the educational partnership, as well as to the provision of the nonstandard hour child care. Parents wanted more information about their children’s day in kindergarten when they bring or fetch their children. Furthermore, it seems that early childhood education plan was not a familiar concept to all parents. Many parents were concerned about their own well-being. Kindergartens should support parents' ability to cope and decrease their stress by ensuring this kind of child care.
