Tiivistelmä
This thesis presents a web-based application built to optimize electricity cost and energy consumption with the assistance of smart ShellyPro3 switches. Because of the rise in using electric vehicles, the uncertainty in electricity price and the growing adoption of home-produced renewable energy, there is a need to smartly manage the cost on electricity and energy consumption. The web-based application allows users to remotely control and schedule the sockets that power all households’ appliances and electric cars by monitoring electricity price and home-produced solar energy production in real-time. The application gives options for users to manually control the sockets instantly or set a daily schedule with electricity price threshold option. The sockets will automatically turn off if the electricity price reaches the given maximum price. Moreover, the application also has a feature for users who have a solar system at home. This feature allows users to use all the solar energy produced without extra spending on electricity bills. The user-friendly interface of the application provides a clear and easy-to-use visualization for users to navigate through the website. The benefits of using the application in reducing electricity cost and utilizing home-produced solar energy are demonstrated through testing with a test prototype and a real case environment. This thesis proposes a convenient web-based application that can help users in cutting electricity cost and managing energy consumption.
