Breast self-examination : Educational material for nursing students

Abstract

Early detection and early treatment of breast cancer holds every high chance of survival. In Finland, research has revealed that breast cancer among women is the most common cause of death.

The purpose of this thesis is to produce an educational material in English for SAMK nursing student on how breast self-examination is carried out, and why it is important. The goal was to increase young people's knowledge about breast self-examination and its importance. The aim is that, the student knowledge about self-breast examination will be enlarge and the material can be use in the future as a guidebook for nursing students and will be able to teach patients on how to do self-breast examination.

The theoretical aspects consist of introduction, theoretical background, purpose and objectives, plan and implementation, evaluation, and conclusion.
