Sijaishuollosta itsenäistyminen : opas nepsy-nuorelle itsenäistymisen tueksi

Abstract

Opinnäytetyömme tavoitteena on sijoitettujen nuorten itsenäistymisen tukeminen. Otamme opinnäytetyössämme huomioon erityisesti nuoret, joilla on neuropsykiatrisia haasteita. Tukeaksemme näitä nuoria, olemme luoneet oppaan itsenäistymisen tueksi. Lisäksi lastensuojelun sijaishuollossa ja jälkihuollossa työskentelevät ammattilaiset voivat hyödyntää opasta ohjaajantyössä itsenäistyvien nuorten parissa. Opinnäytetyön tavoitteena ja tarkoituksena on tukea nuorten toimintakykyä, kokonaisvaltaista hyvinvointia sekä helpottaa sijaishuollosta itsenäistyvien nuorten integroitumista osaksi yhteiskuntaa.

Kehittämispainotteinen opinnäytetyö alkoi tiedonkeruulla. Teorian pohjalta keräsimme itsenäistyvien neurokirjon nuorten yleisimpiä haasteita ja voimavaroja liittyen sijaishuollosta itsenäistymiseen sekä mielenterveyteen. Lisäksi kävimme keskustelua yhteistyökumppanimme työntekijöiden kanssa lisätäksemme oppaan käytettävyyttä. Palautteen keruu suoritettiin dialogin avulla. Teorian ja saadun palautteen pohjalta kehitimme oppaan nuorille tukemaan itsenäistymistä sijaishuollosta. Oppaan valmistumisen jälkeen tuotos esiteltiin vielä yhteistyökumppanillemme ja saadun palautteen pohjalta kehitimme oppaan lopulliseen versioon.

Opas valmistui keväällä 2024. Opasta käytetään yksityisen lastensuojelulaitoksen nuorten itsenäistymisen tukena. Oppaasta hyötyvät niin nuoret kuin nuorten kanssa työskentelevätkin. Oppaassa käsitellään itsenäistymiseen liittyviä tärkeitä teemoja, jotka auttavat nuoria valmistautumaan omilleen muuttoon sekä selviytymään itsenäistymisen matkalla.

This thesis is aimed at supporting the independence of adolescents who have neuropsychiatric disorders and are in long term foster care. The thesis used a shortened term nepsy when mentioning adolescents with neuropsychiatric disorders. The aim and purpose of this thesis were to provide information and support to adolescents in their functional ability, comprehensive well-being and to make integration into society easier for them. A guidebook was created to support and assist adolescents in their independence process. Professionals working in foster care and aftercare in child welfare services can also use the guidebook.

This development-oriented thesis focused on the theory of adolescents with neuropsychiatric disorders, their most usual challenges and resources related to independence from foster care and to their mental health. In addition, for the thesis the collaborating partner and their workers were interviewed with the dialogue method. The final draft of the guide was based on the theory, interviews and the feedback.

The guide was finished in the Spring of 2024. The guide is utilized to support adolescents in a private Child Welfare facility providing foster care and it benefits both adolescents and the workers there. The guide covers important themes regarding independence which help adolescents to prepare them to move out of foster care and in their journey to independence.
